Sailing and a SBI business
This one's for my mother. I'm not yet a user myself, so I don't know...
She retired 8 years ago to go cruising in the pacific on a sailboat. She lives on a modest income with my dad and they are starting to worry about money in the future. They want to keep sailing. She is currently taking a TEFL course so that maybe she can work in some of the places she goes. So she's open to staying put now and then when and where she can, but it's really hard for her to say what she'll be facing as far as where she can go and how long she can stay and how good the internet connection will be. I mean some places she's been it's been useless.
Aside from those obstacles, however, in other ways it looks to be a perfect solution for her to continue her lifestyle and get some money coming in. I would guess that she really does have the potential for a fabulous niche; I mean she has 12 years of cruising experience, is a good writer, and is smart enough to follow the program.
Thank you for reading. So what do you think? Could it work?

It sure could Ana, it's a nice Idea.
Did you introduce yourself in the new members area so we could get to know you?

Wow, you write "idea" with a capital "I"
just like I have since, well, I was in grade-school when first noticed that I did that (with out even thinking about it.) It just seemed like a word worthy of more than a lower-case letter!
No, I haven't introduced myself yet, that's a good Idea. I promise I will do that very soon after I get some sleep!

Experience on a subject and the love for writing will get you far with a website. Sounds like SBI! would work for her idea. Make sure you send her the video tour http://videotour.sitesell.com so she can see how it works.

thank you both for responding.
Before she can invest her limited time, she must have more detail. Any advice on weathering gaps in net availability? What limitations make this venture not worthwhile? iow, how much time, how regularly, would she have to have online access? Of course there are way too many variables for you to have any real idea, but any of your knowlege/experience would be of great help!

Well SBI! has a brainstorming tool that will give her a better idea of what is searched for related to her niche. But she can also check sites like http://trends.google.com to do some preliminary research on search trends and just checking out related sites to see what her competition would be. She would definitely have to have online access at all times because she'll need that to update her site at any time.
There's also a lot of reading and learning with SBI! so make sure she understands that there is a learning curve so the success is not likely to happen right away. Be sure she has realistic expectations about this. It's hard to be very specific about what to expect because you really get out of it what you put into it. SBI! provides all the tools and education, but how well you do largely depends on your own innovation, creativity and motivation.

Hi Ana,
Like everyone else said, I think your Mom would be a great candidate for this niche. The internet access may be a problem. Especially if she is without net access for days at a time. But Is there anyway that you could help her out and help keeps afloat while she is without access? Or someone else who is close to her that has the knowledge? If she plans ahead and knows when she will be without then she could basically 'hire' someone to fill in while she is away?

Thank you Jewels!
I am open to filling in for her if I can. Trouble is, there is no way to plan ahead. There just isn't enough information available to do so. And when internet access is lacking, so are phones.
I don't have the knowledge that she does, but could I possibly kinda "run" the site and tell her what it needs for articles? have her be my "writer"? might that be the best solution?

that's a good Idea, Some people even hire ghost righters that write content for a site without taking credit, so your mom would be your ghost writer
But do give her some credit
