SBI - Dedicated IP address

Hi All,

I am trying to make the decesion between SBI & Hostgator. I am leaning toward SBI because of ease of set up and the SIO help, but I am concerned about not having my own unique IP address. How big of an issues is this?

I intend on selling items and I may want to move the site to another host someday.

Are you sure you're not confusing your own unique IP address with your own domain? You will have your own domain with SBI! just like you would any other host so I'm not sure I understand the concern for the IP address. If you don't like SBI! you can always move your domain to another host at a later time.

Thanks for your reply. I may be confused... but if I go with Hostgator I would have my own IP address for my site (SBI does not offer this). If I want to move my site from SBI...I understand I own the domain name, but I would not have a site to move only a name and I would need to rebiuld the site... correct?

Yes you would have to rebuild your site if you went from SBI! to another host. So probably the best thing to do is save a copy of your site/code on your PC before moving.
