Page Size?
I just got SBI and I have been playing around with the styles of webpages, I just have a quick question, the actual site is in the middle of the browser and there is white all around it and it looks really bad, how do I fix this? Anyone know?
You can take a look at it at - ignore the content, I was just quickly trying to put something there so it wasnt completely blank.
Thanks.

Isn't there a way to align the template to the left in the look and feel selector? Even if you do this there is still going to be white space on the right. You have to understand that if you're using the block by block builder you are very limited when it comes to the actual width of the design template.

Is there any way to make the white around the template a color or something so its not so.. blank?
I would rather have it in the center and have a little white on each side than a big block of white on the right.
Would it be recommended to just use my own designed template?
Edit: I like the template on Lisa's flat stomach site.

I believe the white background comes from your CSS:
Code:
body {
...
background-color:#fff;
...
}
If you change this to another number the background colour will change. This will also change you content background colour, so you will need to specify more CSS attributes to keep that one white.

I am not using my own template, I cant change that because I am using SBI!'s website builder, and you cant change very much.

You cannot fix it, Lisa already stated that you are limited with their website building tools. The only thing you can change with their "Block by Block" building tools are the logo, navbar, colors and content, you cannot change the size of it or anything else other than what I stated. So thats why I think its best to use your own template.
Thanks though.

Yes, you cannot directly edit the CSS with SBI!'s block by block builder. Remember, my SBI! site has been created in Dreamweaver and I followed the guide for uploading my own HTML so I have full control over the design. Until you do this, you won't be able to edit that template too much.

Why won't they let you have full control?

It's not they don't want you to have full control. It has to do with how their template builder/software is setup. It was designed so people don't have to get involved with the technicalities of building a site and can do it as easily as possible. Unfortunately though, when you use a builder that almost always means you are going to have some limitations to what you can do. That goes with SBI! or any host's template builder. But you always have the option of going outside the builder and do your own HTML as I did eventually.

Many sites do that since many people aren't technical or just learning HTML. It's nice that SBI! allows a second options for the more experienced web developers.

Now I Understand
Oh O.K...Bear with me. I'm new at all this lol.
I have a feeling the freelance web design profession will be obsolete ten years from now when the perfect builder comes out. Making it so easy, a caveman can do it.

not true
there are no limits to creativity
there is no end point in the design industry
so you can not say that there will be a site builder to fulfil all needs
