Default upload and use ZIP files

hi
I uploaded a zip file at SBI, but how will it be extract itself. I want to establish
a chessboard. There will be some javascript in the html which uses many files in the zip.
But I believe that the zip file is closed or not, so how can it work?
Do I have to create a executable selfextracting zip file first and upload it again?

If the file is already in a zip format then the user's computer should prompt them to unzip if they have unzipping software installed. Did you test it?

Cool Zip Files

Hey Nobi,

I could be wrong, but I don't know of any host that let's you upload a zip file and then extract it on the server.

If you want to upload a bunch of files at a time, your best bet is to use an FTP client or something. I don't know if SBI! supports FTP though...

Unless you have remote access to the server, you won't be able to extract your zip file...

I do upload zip files and extract them in my hosting account on cpanel.
upload the zip file and click on name and you will see a option to extract the file on right.

I solved the problem. I use an applet(chessboard) that was in executable RAR files. It is not allowed to upload it, but I just changed the file extension into zip, uploaded it and put javascript code in the page. After that it worked fine.
