Default Look & Feel

I'm not completely satisfied with the predesigned theme I chose for my look & feel on SBI!. Its okay and its close to my basic topic, but I'm trying to find something that says to me: This is it!

I found one at basictemplates.biz that is better, but not exactly what I want.

I guess my question is, if i change to the one I found, are there any potential problems with that? Is it easy to do? Should I stick with what I have since its what has been out there for awhile?

Or....can I change the picture on the one I already have? Other than that, its fine.

Thanks!

Janna

Hi Janna

It depends on how comfortable you are with HTML, coding, etc. Honestly, if I was in your position, I'd save that task for later. SBI! provides a very good guide on how to transition to your own HTML but it can be quite the task if you are new to HTML. So I would recommend waiting until your site is more mature, you start getting traffic and seeing results. That way you are not focusing on two very big tasks at once.

That's what I did and I'm so glad I did.

You can change the logo of the one you currently have by going to the Look and Feel Selector and customizing the logo. If that's what you mean.

Thanks, Lisa! If its okay to leave as is, that's what I'll do. The only reason I thought of for changing it now, before I start getting significant traffic, is I don't want to confuse repeat visitors with a different look. But it sounds as if that is not something I need to worry about.

Thanks mostly to the HTML info on 2create, plus a couple other sources, I am getting lots better at HTML but for now will stick to creating more pages and building traffic.

I'm just now learning to read the SBI! stats....wow, there's always so much to learn!

Hi Janna

Yes, there is a lot to learn but just take your time and focus on what you need to know in the beginning. I know it can seem overwhelming at first and it's easy to feel that you have to learn everything now. But I always tell people that your own focus in the beginning is building a quality, useful site that people will want to bookmark.

If you can just focus on that in the first few months a lot of things will start to take care of themselves (traffic will begin to trickle in, you'll start getting ideas for new additions based on your feedback, etc.) Just focus on delivery unique, quality information and read up on the marketing tips SBI! provides and you'll be fine. Good luck!
