Default Need other keyword tool, any suggestions?

Hi,

I've recently registered a domain name with certain host because I can pay monthly and they have the perfect template/design to match my business cards and stationary (therefor not at SBI). However I've been using the SBI manual to help me build my site. Since I'm at the beginning of building my site and still working on the keywords I've looked into other keyword programs because I can't use Site Build It's brainstorming tool. Most keyword programs use Overture so they don't work properly anymore and they don't give each phrase a demand, supply, and profitability value.
How can I still get the best keywords to build my site without SBI?

Thanks,
Happycat

You can still do keyword search without SBI!. Try using https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

I've used it already, but it doesn't seem to calculate like is suggested in the SBI brainstorming tool. I quess I'm still confused about the value vs. demand vs. real supply.

That's because SBI! uses a conglomeration of different tools. It's not just using demand from Google so I would guess their numbers are a little more accurate.

The demand is how many searches are done on that keyword in a given month. The real supply is the number of sites that seem to be targeting that phrase (so in a nutshell, supply would be your competition). Your goal is to find a phrase or topic to cover that has low supply and high demand. Now of course it's going to be nearly impossible to find the PERFECT combination due to the saturation but those numbers will at least give you an idea of how competitive a term is and if there is enough demand.

Everyone's path to success is different so I'm not sure the perfect step-by-step guide exists. But a generic guide would be....

1) Find a topic you love with decent supply and demand

2) Research potential competitor sites to see what's out here and how you can set your site apart from theirs.

3) Build your site

4) Read up on SEO and other ways to promote your site.

5) Have patience and never give up.

Not really sure how to get much more specific than that. I'm sure if you ask 100 random successful webmasters or bloggers, they've all done some sort of variation of the above steps but no one does exactly the same thing.

For example, I built traffic to my sites up by using article marketing and directory submissions. But that was years ago. Now article marketing and directory submissions are no longer as effective so you have to research other ways to drive traffic to your site and make it popular. Networking is everything now so getting in contact with related webmasters is key these days. Much more key than it was years ago.
