Default Next Version Released Yet?

I've read other threads talking about SBI coming out with a newer version (I think it's called SBI 2.0 or something like that) where there will be more technical features available (such as PHP support). Is it out yet? I may consider trying out SBI when this release comes out.

Funny you should mention that because Ken just announced at the beginning of the month that Content 2.0 is in Beta.

Should be very slick and I can't wait to see the final but apparently SBI! sites will now be able to handle databases and a bunch of other functionality but super easy for customers to use and setup.

According to Ken, it's basically a stripped down MySpace with a better output. Now I'm not really sure if he means we'll be able to setup mini networking features within our own sites or if the user interface is going to be like MySpace.

Wow! Now THAT is what's going to help take sbi to the next level. I think that's what's prevented so many techy folks from biting on sbi. It's great for newbies but those of us who want to do database stuff feel a bit restrictive. Will the price still be $299/year. That would be an incredibly low price for all that sbi does, ESPECIALLY with database and PHP support.

You bet. Many web designers have trashed SBI! because it lacks a lot of the features a standard host does and that's what took me so long to buy it. I wanted the MySQL support for a forum, etc. But once I realized it's not the technical stuff that makes you the money, it's the content... I really didn't miss those features as much because I had earned my money back and then some.

But now that SBI! is going to provide more of the standard hosting features AND in a much more user-friendly way than any other host I think it's going to turn a lot of heads. I can't wait to test them out on my SBI! site when Content 2.0 launches, and I have a feeling it's going to be truly powerful.

Haven't heard anything about a price increase but I would seriously doubt if it's kept at $299/year with all those features it will provide. I don't think people realize how robust SBI! truly is compared to most web hosts AND it's all run inhouse by a very small group of programmers. Amazing what SiteSell has done and will do in the future.

I don't care what the cost of the increase will be (if any), I will buy it in a heartbeat.

Look out for SiteSell everyone!

Such a great point Lisa. I too considered buying SBI! but it wasn't in my budget at the time. I had a designer do my first site (not the one in my sig) and he was really good at PHP, XML, ABC or whatever languages are out there but he had no idea how to get me ranked in Google. So that's when I started researching SBI!. It's a little steep for my budget now but I have read Ken's free books and I've learned it's about the content, not about the fancy tools. Who cares about PHP if no one is coming to your site, ya know?

So I plan to buy it at some point, just not now. But Ken Evoy's content tips are spot on. He's made me a better writer and that's what gets people to your site. Plus if you do a site in Flash, PHP, or whatever the search engines ignore you. Yeah the sbi sites are very basic with little flare... but they get traffic and no other host can brag about those traffic results like Ken Evoy can.

I keep getting off topic, don't I? But back to the original subject, if SBI! is going to start offering what other hosts offer that will be awesome and I may have to bite the bullet and try it out!

I used to be one of the ones to roll my eyes about sbi too. There was sooooo much hype about it that it made me an instant skeptic. But once I met Lisa and a couple of others who are actually making decent money from their sites it's really hard to ignore it.

I just think the point should be made and I think it's been said in the forums several times before, it's not sbi that makes you money. It's you building good content. SBI acts as the GUIDE to show you how to choose the right keywords to target and even how to become a better copywriter.

I will be the first to admit I hate doing a lot of writing, which is one reason I never bought it. I'm good at coming up with catchy headlines and quick sales copy but writing pages and pages on a topic has never appealed to me. Maybe I am just not passionate enough about something to write 30, 40, or 100 pages about it. I've read stories that some sbi customers have over 1,000 pages. I can't imagine knowing enough about anything to write that much!

I'm rambling but my point is I think it's great sbi is trying to catch-up to other hosting companies in terms of offering platforms that support PHP, etc. It may appeal to a whole new audience, which I'm sure that was Mr. Evoy's plan. It'll be interesting to see how it goes over. Lisa (and anyone else who owns sbi), will have to keep us updated on the new features and how they are impacting your site.
