Default Something Creative

I did something interesting today while building my SBI site. I was getting tired of being trapped in that box, so I decided to use tables in the blocks. I also wanted to use SBI's newsletter form on the right of my page body, but it was too big for the small space they give you. So I built the page as they allowed then looked at the form source code and copied it. I then pasted the source code of the form into the block by block builder and changed their code to make the form box smaller and change the color. I deleted the form block, and bingo I had the form in the body of my page in the right column of the table.

I didn't break any rules did I?

Very cool! I don't see how that would break any rules. If you can get the code to work for you without breaking then I say your mission was a success! Nice job, alpha!

Thanks Lisa. I would have posted the link in the review forum, but I'm not ready to show anyone the site yet. It's not too pretty right now.

OK great, I was wondering if you were going to let us see your masterpiece. I think I understand what you did based on your explanation but it will be cool to see how you re-worked the template.

Ok, now I see why you (Lisa) went to CSS to get away from block by block. My tables inside the "blocks were working, but it doesn't always work when I need space. My site is gonna look boring for a while. It's just blocks at the moment.

I wasted a lot of time trying to make it look nice. I guess it's the artist in me. I have now gotten back on track with "content, content, content!"

But as soon as the visitors start rolling in, CSS and I will be good buddies.

Yeah you are pretty limited with that block by block builder but once you break out of it, you will be freeeeeee! LOL But the good thing is, it's not the design that brings the traffic and money. Even with my old design, my site performed very well. So I agree with your plan. Focus on that content and then tackle the design later.

Yeah, I just thought I had found a way to beat the system But alas, the system won.

Sorry if this thread turned out to be my own little conversation piece.
