Default Attn: Lisa - SiteBuild It Q.

Lisa,

Did you build your flat-stomach-exercises site with SiteBuilder or did you choose the "upload your own html" option?

Your site looks great.

thx

Thank you! I used the Upload Your HTML method and designed my site in Dreamweaver. I just recently redesigned it but I had the block by block builder design for the first 2 1/2 years.

So you started with SiteBuilder?

Does Site Sell make the transition to the "upload your own html" fairly seamless after you already committed to SiteBuilder?

I know HMTL, so I'm not sure which route to go. I don't know Dreamweaver or CSS.

I already have my site created (it was with another host), but I didn't really like the design.

Yep. I only recently updated it. Probably 2 months ago or so. They made it very easy but I will say having a background in HTML and some CSS does help. That's why I always suggest you start with the builder to get your feet wet.

SiteSell provides a Transition Guide that helps you switch things over. And if you follow that, have a basic understanding of how to use your software then you should be fine. You don't have to use Dreamweaver. You can use Komposer, Nvu (free) or something else.

But I would definitely recommend waiting until you are comfortable with CSS and HTML (and your software) before trying to make the transition. It could get overwhelming because there are some special steps you have to follow with SBI! (as opposed to a regular host). I'm glad I waited. I bought a book on Dreamweaver before starting the transition.

Thanks, Lisa.

My site is created with straight HTML code (that I had at another host). Believe it or not, I create my sites with straight HTML code from scratch. I've never used any html editor - but I should learn CSS.

Does the "upload your own html" work for HTML that was built from scratch?

I'm torn whether to upload my own HTML or start with the SiteBuilder. I don't like the look of the SiteBuilder sites, and I'm guessing they are too constricting.

If you opt to upload your own html, do you still have access to Site Sell's graphics library and other features or are you pretty much on your own?

thanks again.

Yes you can still use it. It doesn't matter what you used to create your site (software or hard coding). All you're really doing is just uploading your files. If you follow the Transition Guidelines that SBI! provides you'll see that it's very straightforward. You don't have to know CSS, I just recommend it because it makes updating your site much easier.

Yes, you can still use the graphic library.

Lisa,

Does the "upload your own HTML" option include the "Analyze It" feature?

The Analyze It feature would be very helpful for me figuring out if I have too many or too few keywords on my pages.

Yep. Even though you upload your own HTML you still have to login to Site Central and go through the upload process so at the very end you have the option to use Analyze It.
