Default Traffic Differences

Hi everyone,

I'm noticing that the number of visitors to my site is different in the SBI! traffic stats vs. Google analytics. For example, Google says I had 10 visitors yesterday, while SBI! says I had 23. I know those numbers are pathetic, but obviously like the SBI! number better!

Any ideas on why the traffic stats are different?

While I might not be correct...I was reading somewhere that GA tracks visits from the Google search engine...while SBI includes all the search engines.

My GA stats are always a little lower than SBI also.

That's because SBI! uses site logs, which is a standard web tracking system that comes with most hosts (I hate it to be honest. LOL). They count hits and sessions a little differently than most stat trackers so that's why you see the inconsistent numbers. Go with GA's numbers.

Default Bummer!

Thanks Lisa and Jewel. I liked SBI!'s numbers better, though!

Just a thought...but also, don't you have to post the GA script on each page you want tracked? therefore if not tracking the whole site- the numbers may be off?

If anyone knows- feel free to share

Yes you definitely have to put the code on every page.
