Default Bouncing Page Rankings?

Hi everyone!

Did anyone notice that their page rankings at the SE's bounced around when you were just starting your site? For example, one of my pages was ranked 4 (yeah!) and now it's back to greater than 30 (boo hoo!).

Thanks!

Default Nice site

I know nothing about rankings as i have not started my site yet. I did go look at your site and really like it's clean appearance. It is easy to read and informative. I have looked at several sites and yours is the most eye appealing for me so far. Nice Work.

Oh yes. My rankings for both my SBI! site and non SBI! site bounced around more than a jackrabbit in heat. LOL It's perfectly normal. Your rankings will stabilize over time.

Hi NewMamma

Mine changes too. Like Lisa said it is normal. I have one page ranking at No 1
since I started and it really makes no sense at all. It is probably because my page has a title that no one else has. It was just a silly idea that I had.

I found "Pamela the Pilates Cow" on Flickr and it just made me smile at the time.
I decided to ask the owner if I could use the photo on my site as she obviously loves Pilates. My page ranks No1 I am sure it will dropped soon!

I've been at this for a month, maybe a tad more and have yet to get to page 1 of Google results. I'm at the top of page 2 for now, but have also seen it swoop up and down. This is, however, the highest ranking I've gotten with my current website so far.

I think it works a little something like this, forgive me if I'm wrong.

Google will rank it according to search relevancy. For example, if you have a website named coolpotatoes.com and you include cool potatoes in your keywords and a search is made from "cool potatoes" your website (should in due time) appear. However Google will rank it by the number of times people have clicked your site for that search query and (i think) also for the duration of the time they've been on your page. In other words, if they click your link but immediately return to the search results, you'll be devaluated.
