Default SBI CONCERNS

I have another question about SBI. I was reading other posts and found out that its $300 per ONE site. If I came up with an idea for a site and decided I wanted to change it, could I??? say I start creating a site on golfing then want to switch to baseball??? Just wondering, THanks!!

Changing your content is up to you but keep in mind you can't change your domain name. So yes, you could change your topic but the biggest issue would be the name you chose. You wouldn't want to build a baseball site on the domain called golfingtips.com.

Although maybe Renee will see this post because she just recently switched her topic with SBI! and received great help from support. Perhaps she can speak more about her experience.

Actually you can change your domain name, that's exactly what I did with my first site. There is a one-off cost of (I think) $50, but I stand to be corrected on that.

Yes, they will let you change your domain name...it is $50. I think you can only do that once though.

Default Yes, you can....however

Yes, Lisa was right. This very thing happened to me less than a week ago. I had an initial site concept and I registered my domain but after a few days, I was not 'feeling it' and I knew right away I wouldn't be happy with my first choice. I contacted Site-sell support, traded emails with Darren and Jennifer and I was allowed to change my domain name but let me alert you to a few things:

1. You can only make a domain change ONCE - so you have to make sure that you're serious about making the change
2. There is a $50 charge for the domain name change
3. Your previous site information (domain name, MKL, etc.) will NOT be transferred over to the new site - you'll start over from "stratch" again
4. Your old site info will be discontinued
5. You will also receive new username/password to log on to SBI

So again, be very, very sure that you want to make the change. And also, I would not recommend you doing this like 3-4 months after you start your SBI site. Sounds like you haven't signed up with SBI yet, is that the case? If so, then take your time and decide carefully BEFORE you decide on your site concept/domain name.

Is that right? I never had to change my login details at all, maybe this is a new thing?

I think you do know when your chosen topic just isn't "right". For me it was about 4 months into the site, I just lost interest in the topic. However, my replacement just felt good from day one, and so it has proved to be. So although it is a real pain to change your original idea and lose all that data and time, if you have found another topic that you can run with, I think it is. It certainly was in my case.

Default Steve

I was given new username/password and it may be something new. Interestingly, when I still logged in with my old info, my information that was associated with my old site concept/domain name was linked to that login information.

And I echo your comments, you do know when your concept isn't right. I actually created three blogs to see which one I would create a website from and I immediately chose the one that was getting the most traffic, however it wasn't the one I was excited and passionate about writing although I enjoyed blogging about it. And that's another thing, blogging is fun and extremely easy to do but for me, I wanted to look long-term and SBI is creating that long-term for me so going with something that I know and love for a web site concept just made more sense to me.

And something else you said, it can be a pain to change but at the same time it doesn't have to be. Why not create a new blog about it? Just a thought-
