Default To blog or not to blog that is the question

Hi Guys

As I continue on the path of building my website I just do not know whether
to start a blog. Understanding it all would be nice but I am a bit stuck on
what would I blog about? Should I stick to content writing for my website
for now? I have about 31 pages so far. Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Star,

Are you planning on using SBI's site blog or going outside of SBI and use blogger or Wordpress? The reason I ask is because SBI!'s blog is a little different than a regular blog. It's a blog that is created out of your new content.... sort of like a "what's new" page.

My thinking is if you are stuck on what you would blog about then it's best to wait until you could develop an identity for your blog. If you just start blogging for the sake of blogging then it will have no focus. I think as you keep building your content you will know when it's time.

So many people blog and the content looks just like their site so it's not adding anything to the site. You definitely want your blog to add value to your site in some way. Don't worry if you can't think of anything. It may mean you should hold off.

Thank you Lisa. Yes down the road I will find something to add more value.
When I am ready I'll come back for more advice if the SBI blog is
best for me or to go outside.

Phew I feel the pressure releasing from my shoulders

that's the great thing about running your own website. There is no right or wrong time to add certain things. Focus on what you need to get done first and the blog will develop in time. And if you decide you don't need one, that's fine too. My site was over 3 years old before I started my first blog. Remember. Always think about adding value to your site and visitors. If you don't feel that the addition adds any value, then scrap it for now.

First focus on your website. Get quality content and from there later add a blog when traffic start booming.
