Tell me - do you have to be a paying member of SBI to join the five pillar club and become an affiliate ?
A friend of mine, would like to promote SBI, but does not want to make up a website.

No, you can become an affiliate for free. Go to http://affiliates.sitesell.com/

However, when promoting SBI, it certainly helps someone's credibility if he/she used SBI to build a successful website.

I joined the Afiliate Program too and I have an SBI ad on two of my blogs. I plan on getting SBI over the next few days so I'll be a owner but you can join the Affiliate Club and refer others. There's a lot a read but it's worth it!
