Default Hello!

Hello everyone!

I found this forum via youtube first (lisa's videos), and then found the website, and then the forum!

I have been blogging since 2005, and it wasn't for anyone but myself. What I wasnt counting on was people actually reading it, and sending me comments and emails. I think it was about 5 months ago that I decided to throw adsense on to the blog. I followed some basic information I read, and to be honest really wasn't expecting much. I guess I'm up to $70. I get about 100-150 visitors a day, and the subject matter is a bit sensitive to some. NOT objectable - just sensitive. I had been toying with the idea of making a website for a while, and I have done some reading. LOL as I guess with most people it was overwhelming!

I have been reading about SBI, and have decided maybe its time to save up some cash and go for it. My rating when others do searches for certain keywords that my subject is about seem to find me okay. I do a couple of them myself since what happened with my adsense. LOL to be honest before I really didn't pay to much attention! This year I had been contacted by some Christian authors for my opinion on the matter (subject matter of blog), and my friends keep pushing me, "What the heck are you waiting for!" They seem to think a website to grow things is just what is needed. LOL I'm not afraid of work either! I realize you do have to work before getting off the ground, and I have no clue about some of the items I have read about. It will be nice to learn.

I normally don't share my identity unless I know the person. I normally just use an initial in my name. I assume that is not cool with websites right? Would it be better to use a pen name or something? LOL Sorry but there are tons of wriedos out there, and sharing that scares the pants off me!

Another question - can I transfer information off the blog onto the website........or is it better just to start fresh? I realize I may have to revamp some of the articles to use the keywords, etc you find are best to use once you get into it.

LOL sounds like I will be researching while I ebay, etc to raise the funds!

Hi and welcome!

As far as using your name, do what's comfortable for you. A lot of members here start out using a pen name or alias but once they get more comfortable decide to share their name. I do think that when you add a name to your website it does help with credibility.

Congrats on your blog! That's such a great start and it looks like you are on the right track. As far as using SBI!, you may discover after using the brainstorming and research tools to do a totally different topic. So I would leave your blog "as is" for now. And if you decide to buy SBI! and you start going through the process I think it will become more clear on what direction you should take.

There really is no right or wrong way but if you're blog is already getting traffic might as well preserve that and continue building that up. Then when you buy SBI! choose a slightly different spin and perhaps use the two to cross promote each other.

And last but not least, take your time. If you haven't yet, go to http://demo.sitesell.com and check out the Action Guide. This will give you an idea of what you will receive... actually it's the exact thing you will receive when you buy. You just won't have access to any tools obviously. But at least it gives you a free sneak preview.

eaandfaith,

I completely agree with Lisa's comments. Instead of focusing on transferring stuff to a website, I would capitalize on the success you're seeing with your blog and continue to build on that. Just to let you know, many people make a full-time income from blogs, not just websites.

If I were you, I would continue to build great content for the blog, while learning how to monetize it (if that's what you would like to do).

I still think it would be a good idea to eventually create a website, so like Lisa said, take your time with the Action Guide, and once your subscribe to SBI, you can figure out if and how the website will complement your blog, or will it be about something else.

Yes I would like to monetize it. I applied and was accepted at amazon today, and I figure I could use that because I do book reviews on occasion. There are also some great books on the subject that I guess I need to figure out how to include. I get so overwhelmed with what people tell you to do....you get like

I did look at some of the videos, but was confused by some of the tools they spoke about. For example, one of the keywords I use states low traffic but the adsense cost was almost $3. That didnt' make sense to me. It was a good tool tho, and I can see how I could use certain words over others to make it keyword rich (I believe the term is). I guess I will have to watch them again!

I figured out this week how to change the template from 2 column to 3 column, and now I have to figure out what would be the best layout again!

I would like to do a website, and I'm planning on ebaying soon to raise the funds. I have to go out of town for a funeral, but once I return I will have to jump in there to see what I can raise! Starting a blog, learning about the html, etc was a challege for me...lol but I did it! Funny what happens when you are determined! I doubt I have it right, but I'm learning as I go along.

Thank you!

Yes, unfortunately, a lot of people have different views about how you should proceed. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you can and will get it all done... one step at a time! Don't try to do everything at the same time. Make a list, prioritize, learn, and execute. And remember, most of the members here at Website Babble have gone through similar (or at least can relate) to many of the things that you have and will go through, so feel free to ask questions here regularly.

I am assuming you're referring to the SBI Action Guides... they are packed with great information, so watching it again (as you suggested) is a good plan.

Now, regarding your question about the low traffic keyword but high Adsense cost. I think you may have used the Google Keyword selector tool. The $3 is probably the bid in order to rank #1 as a Google Ad. This is what an advertiser would have to pay for his/her ad to rank #1. The Adwords bid varies by niche. Even if you have a particular keyword that has low traffic, the bid may still be high in order for the ad to rank #1. I hope this clears things up a bit.

I am sorry you have to go to a funeral. Why are you thinking about starting another blog (or did you mean start a website)?

What do you mean by "ebaying"? Sell stuff on ebay to raise money? There may be other ways to make money via your blog.

Don't worry... those who want to have it all perfectly before they proceed never begin. You certainly seem to have the right attitude, so I am sure you will be fine. Also, like I mentioned above, we're here to help!

Just one more thing. While there is a learning curve to website building, you've already proven you can pick stuff up with what you've done with your blog so far. I dare say it's going to be easier for you now since SBI spells everything out in such detail. It's funny how I can say this now but 6 months ago I had no idea what html even looked like..haha
