If you want to get the big checks then, yes I would have to say that Internet Marketing and web development sites tend to do better. Another group that does well selling SBI! are people with successful SBI! sites who detail their success with SBI! on their "About Me" pages. People want proof and if you can flash checks or show your traffic results then that really helps build your credibility.
If you think about it, $299 is not pocket change so in order to get complete strangers who don't know you to believe in the product it's important to show that you use it and provide specific results of how well your site is doing.
So if your site is not about web development or net marketing then I would go for the subtle "About Me" approach where you add a small paragraph on your site explaining how you built your website.
No sense in creating a separate page hard-selling SBI! on an unrelated site because it would come across as sales pitchy and people would wonder why that page is stuck on a site not related to site building. The whole idea is to gently suggest it as an option if you want to build a money making site and explain how it's helped you.
Also think about your site's niche. You target moms/parents, etc. It would make sense for you to send people to
http://wahm.sitesell.com (with your affiliate URL of course) because that page speaks to your audience. That's what I love about SiteSell's affiliate program. They have affiliate links with so many different spins so you pick the one that fits your audience. Not enough affiliate programs do this and need to take notes.
When you go to

If your site targets students, then there's a student promotion page, if you have a site on real estate then there's a page that focuses on that niche. It's pretty useful. I used to live in that section of the 5 Pillar Club when I first joined.
All the links listed in the SiteSell Promotion Center are coded with your specific affiliate code so you'll get credit when you refer someone to the product using that link. Just copy and paste that exact link from that page to go in your site.
But the key is definitely to
soft sell it. A casual mention on your About Me page is the way to go on sites that are unrelated.

So yes, Net marketing sites tend to do best but sites on other topics can also do very well if you have an audience that trusts you and respects your recommendations. But again, it all goes back to the traffic. I would never have sold as many SBI subscriptions if I didn't first generate an audience that trusts my recommendations. Traffic and credibility is everything.

That was a great tip that I hope I remember when I finally get my SBI site going. I have been one of their affiliates forever it seems, I just never stuck with promoting it much as I never had much funds or a website.
