Thanks Jazzy.
Yes, it did take some time to figure a few things out, but well worth it because once your site is setup in Dreamweaver (or whatever program you use), making updates is fast and easy. The good news is, when you're ready to do your own design with SBI!, the instructions were very clear.

Great new look lisa,
I have to say the whole colour schemes definitely improve your ads and there embedding into your content it looks great and organised at the same time.
A big improvement definitely! Keep it up lisa.

Your site does look great Lisa!
Since I have yet to start writing my site (I am still on Day 5 and haven't picked the name yet ) I am clueless about a lot of the technical writing/uploading stuff you are talking about here!!!!
From everything you say I am tempted to run out and get Dreamweaver....but I am disciplining myself to just stay with what SBI has for now...for my first site...so I can get a handle on all of the technical stuff. Then I will get something else....either Dreamweaver or Coffeecup. I know myself and once I master understanding the basics I will want to learn more and go further.
A few things (and maybe this does not belong under this thread)...when you build your site with SBI, it has to be hosted by SBI...you use Hostgator...you can do this because you did not use SBI to build your site? At this point, using Dreamweaver and Hostgator, what do you use SBI for, their great information and great tools?
Also, for Dreamweaver, I went to the template page, just to look around. I think this might be one of those stupid questions, but I just want to make sure I understand correctly...to buy and use one of those templates you have to have the main software package, right? They are just add ons?
Kind of like if I were to buy a package of forms built for Word...I still need Word to open and use them?

Thanks Jewel,
First of all 2create is not an SBI! site. It's hosted on a regular host. My SBI! site, flat stomach has access to all the brainstorming tools, etc. You cannot combine the SBI! tools with another host.
To be honest you could probably buy one of the dreamweaver templates and they will function pretty well in other editors. The reason they are classified as Dreamweaver templates is they were more than likely designed using the Dreamweaver-friendly HTML and CSS tags so everything shows up properly in that editor.
But in most cases you can use the template for almost any editor. There are just no guarantees of 100% coding compatibility.

SBI Newbie Question
Lisa and all SBI'ers,
I am in the process of making my site (non-published of course). I am also using a similar version of the CSS template that Lisa provided for download. What I would like to know is I want to use this website with SBI. When I purchase SBI and start going through the building process, should I use a pre-built template within SBI first or should I transfer the HTML coding during the process?
Lisa, I know you explained doing this but If i'm not mistaken, you used a template in SBI first then imported your own code later? Is this right. I guess what i'm asking is when it's time to build in SBI, would it allow me to upload my own code first?

Hey Kevin,
What you would do is setup the template how you want it on your PC first. (You can go ahead and select one of the pre-created SBI! templates in the meantime if you want.)
But when you're ready to upload your new design you would just choose the "Upload Your HTML" feature and it will walk you through the steps. If you already have content on the old, pre-created SBI! templates then transfer all that content to your new design.
In other words I pretty much re-created my entire site on my PC with the new design first. Then I used the "SBI! Transition Instructions" to upload my new site. The transition instructions are AWESOME but just make sure your site looks how you want it on your PC before uploading your own custom design.
And if you plan to use "includes" like I did for the left nav, header, etc. make sure you read up on that because you have to do something special to get the includes to work. Again all this is in the Transition Instructions.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

This may be already answered in here and I am not understanding yet again since I have not been through the process...but, say I start out my site using the SBI template, then later on when I feell I know what I am doing I go to something like Dreamweaver...do I have to retype all of the content, basically redo everything from scratch? Or do I have a way of easily bringing it over once I finish designing and setting up the page?
Thanks.

Thank you so much Lisa. This really helps. Can't wait to get started with SBI. I will keep you updated of my progress.
One more thing, I had a really neat idea for you. Have you ever thought about doing weekly conference calls for your forum members, for 2createawebsite training or brainstorming questions, etc? I think that conference calls or teleseminars (whatever you want to call it) will stick out like a sore thumb and grow your community here.
What does everyone else here think?

Jewel,
That was almost my same question. The way I understand it as Lisa explained it, you can definately start our with a basic SBI template and get the site going and once you're ready to start out with your own template by using Dreamweaver or any other editor, You just choose the option "upload your html" and copy and past the code from your dreamweaver template over into the sbi pages and it should work. She also mentioned that something special had to be done for the includes to work, but she never said what exactly. Im sure it will be pretty simple.
Hope this helps
