Default Is there an advantage to using SBI for new sites?

If you already understand the SBI system, what is the advantage of using SBI as opposed to building a site on your own?

1. Less technical experience required (actually none is required)

2. Having all tools in one place (web page builder, search engine submitter and ranking reports, mailing list manager, and I could go on forever)

3. A community/forum to chat with other SBI owners when you get stuck or have questions

4. A thorough education of what it takes to build a successful site (this is an underrated benefit in my opinion.) I think so many people feel they can just create a site on anything they wish and it will be instantly successful because others have created similar sites on these topics.

For example, there is a plethora of folks these days who want to be the next MySpace, Match.com, Facebook, etc. They think all they have to do is learn how to build a site like that and they'll be as successful.

SBI! educates you on the importance of CTPM (Content, Traffic, PREsell and Monetization) In other words, it's about building credibility on a topic that interests you, build traffic and if you do everything in the right order the money is easy(ier).

And I don't say this to brag, but I've never had any problems generating traffic to most of my sites because I was so passionate about what I'm talking about, marketing it became fun and never felt like work. So the traffic started flowing and once traffic revvs up, making money from Google ads, etc. is almost automatic.

So my point is a lot of people complain there's too much reading with SBI! but the people that don't read what Ken teaches are usually the people that never make much.

You really have to understand what kinds of sites succeed. But if you ignore the reading and just build your site on what YOU think it's best, you miss the whole luxury of SBI!. You might as well just go with a cheap host and skip the education.

I have been saying this for years but I really do believe I owe a lot of my success to the teachings of Ken Evoy. Learning how to write and communicate with people is a MUST for long-term. Both Ken and Allan Gardyne are great examples of how to do this.

Do you have to use SBI! to succeed? Absolutely not, but if you want to get the background education for long-term success it's the best thing out there.

Good points, Lisa!

Once you get that education though, and have 2 or 3 successful sites under your belt, should you still use SBI?

It depends on what you want to do with your site. I am really waiting on SBI! to add the functionality so you can add forums, wordpress blogs, etc. like you can with a regular host. Once they do that then I will definitely consider SBI! for all my sites.

But I know a lot of people who have used SBI! for their first sites and then taken the education and created sites on regular hosts so they can do some of the things I mentioned above. Then there are others that have 6 and 7 SBI! sites that would never use anything else. Can you imagine 6-7 sites? Wow, that's $1800/year. What a great testament to SBI! if ya ask me.

Red face Other Costs with a SBI Site

Hi Lisa,

I’ve been reading your site about Site Build It and was wondering about other costs associated with getting a SBI site. Since SBI costs $299 and it submits your articles to web search engines, do I also have to pay another $299 to submit my SBI site to the Yahoo Directory?

Also, I'm not sure if SBI has a blog section, but if I wanted to get a blog with WordPress, do I have to submit it to the Yahoo directory too for $299?

Lastly, can I put videos on my SBI site?

Any info would help and be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you Lisa!

P.S. I posted these questions on your website under the comment section about blogs. Sorry!

Hi there,

I believe I answered your blog comment via email but I'll answer again just for the sake of others reading.

The $299 Yahoo fee is separate from the SBI! fee. And the Yahoo fee is not a necessity. Many SBIers get plenty of traffic without paying for the Yahoo Directory. I did go ahead and pay for it but I had the extra cash to spare. I always tell people if you can afford it, great because it's a nice backlink to have to your site but if it's not in your budget then don't pay the $299 fee. You can get plenty of traffic to your site without it.

As far as WordPress you cannot use WordPress with SBI! at this time. SBI! does have a blog but it's not like a typical blog. It's actually a "site blog" that sort of acts like a sitemap/what's new page and provides a listing of latest updates on your site.

You can put video on your SBI! site.
