Question COPYRIGHT on your FOOTER ?

Does S-B-I Automatically Copyright your website for you when it is built ?

Do i have to physically Copyright the webiste myself with a lawyer or however its done ?

Is your website automatically copywritten once built already ?

I simply want to know if i can place the copyright symbol on my footer with copyright including the year on it and if so where do i get the (c)copyright symbol from ? :?:

Hey Revenue,

There's is a rule/law that anything you write and publish on your website is automatically copyrighted by you. SBI! has a "Footer Builder" (located in Site Central) that allows you to add a copyright statement if you wish to make it look more official. The HTML symbol for the copyright symbol is & copy ; (it's all run together but I had to seperate it for the forum so it wouldn't display the actual symbol)

I could explain the legal differences in a more in-depth manner (I love legal things :P), but for all practical purposes:

© = Something that is usually longer, such as a document, that you have not officially registered with the government.

™® = Something you have officially registered with the government.

Lightbulb My thoughts on copyright

Hi ..

I basically follow the rule, if you don't want it taken, don't put it on the web .. lol .. because for the most part, we don't have the time, money or energy to spend on doing something about it .. so it wants to be real valuable firstly ..

A bit more ..

The copyright symbol that you have added to your website and you didn't have to do anything to protect your material.
- Could depend on your country but here are a few things to consider.

1. Placing the © symbol on your website makes it look official. Some might see it as a sign of authority, while others may not even know or care enough to look, but none-the-less, official looking.

2. The Date - Some rush to change the date on the beginning of the New Year, like Walmart, Microsoft & even Google .. while others look at the date as implying a look of longevity, date established and never change their date or only add this year to their ending date - Best Buys, 2003 - 2009 Amazon 1996 - 2009 ...while others like playboy.com do not even list a date in their copyright notice ..

3. All Rights Reserved - probably adds nothing and doesn't add any further authority to your symbol.

I, myself, prefer the longevity, so I don't change my dates.

By the way, if you want to add a copyright in HTML, you can do © in HTML.
