Well it is very simple to tackle such situation. First of all think about the stuff you are getting into then keep doing it with full concentration, later after you are done with it and before getting involved in some other activity or changing your focus, pen down the main points of your idea , well nowadays there are cellphones available which can be used to make notes, you can use that as well. Hope this works

    Hey everyone

thanks for pointing out that newsletter, Lisa. I went ahead and signed up.

I think one of the big problems that we all have is we all have a ton of ideas. The old serial entrepreneur syndrome.
I've been working really hard on just keeping my focus to one project at a time. I have a goal to do one project a month. And get that to completion. And then I'll pick something else.

Otherwise you can go nuts trying to do too many difft things.

Hey, let me tell you that you are definantly not alone. I have been there a thousand times and it is just so frustrating to have all these ideas and not be able to turn them into reality. The key here is to focus on one idea that you are so passionate about yet at the same time, you can succeed in. Last time i tried building a website, I sat down with a pen and paper and wrote all the ideas of niches I was passionate about. To name a few, cooking, parenting, baby names and home development and it felt like the most the hardest thing for me was to decide between them.

I agree with nora90 in focusing on one idea that you are so passionate about, and leave the rest for another time.

Trying it out now! I always come up with more ideas, then the time I actually have. But I do think it's best to have a good range of ideas, versus just one.

My blog is actually about this very subject: ideas. I spend time looking at and investigating potential small business ideas. I get to learn a lot because I genuinely look into an idea and take action. I have to research a lot, read a lot, sometimes spend a little cash and really make an effort. It's like setting myself a college project and turning in a paper at the end, which is in really an abridged report in the form of a blog post.

I keep it in the niche of UK small business to help me maintain focus otherwise I'd never get any meaningful content written. There's just too much to write about in terms of business in general. I also write about the day to day operations of small business to add a bit of depth and breadth to the site.

I spend a lot of time "investigating" which includes listening to podcasts pretty much everyday in addition to reading long-form books, watching videos, reading articles etc. I manage my time quite well so no energy is wasted endlessly chasing my own tail. I like to take action.

Check out Seth Godin's book "Poke The Box" if you haven't already. It's all about acting upon your curiosity instead of thinking too much about it.

I think we all go through it. Spending time reading emails, scouring forums looking for answers, looking at other sites and blogs wondering "If only I could do that"? Trying to stay focused is an overused term...especially when we are not as successful as we thought we should be by now.

Sometimes success is right in front of us...we can't see it because we are too busy trying to be more successful. Stop and look around you. You've got a car, home, computer, friends and family who somehow tolerate your online obsession.

I know the feeling! I take lots and lots of notes. Usually the best way I get around 'losing focus' is keeping track of urls and such that I find interesting and review them LATER after I've completed the task that I originally set out to do.
I have also experienced that. And I totally understand you. I'm a newbie here. I think all you have to do is organize things and I'm pretty sure you'll get things done on time.
