From what I understand its all about $$$ now.
After bashing my Facebook friends for not giving me enough likes, I created some commotion. Only to find out that most of my FB friends say they don't see my posts. I didn't believe them but Facebook confirms that my reach is quite insignificant. And I have a little over a hundred friends as it is.
Didn't want to start tagging people in posts as I am concerned about becoming annoying.
Question is, how do you reach more people on Facebook or do you have to pay them? I refuse to spend money on advertising to my friends or even using their free coupons, when they first started their main slogan was, "We are free and always will be."
Facebook, after all is still a business, like Google and everybody else.

I agree that they are a business. But that doesn't make every business decision that they make okay. I am not a loyal Facebooker myself. But don't forget what happened to Myspace. Facebook is not above that happening to them. Five years into the future someone may read this thread and ask, what is a Facebook?.. lol
Seems relevant.... Autopsy of a Social Network. It refers to Friendster dying. The original social network.
It's all about engagement. The more likes and comments your posts receive the more Facebook will show your posts. So knowing what your audience likes and posting relevant content will help. But they admitted they have decreased reach to encourage ad spend.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out for them.
Facebook marketing you have to think a little outside the box. They are there to play not get hit up with ads
