Very Old Member Returning to the Fold
My name is Lark . I think I've had this username since 2008, when Lisa's main focus was static HTML websites. I had the misfortune to plug into Lisa's content too early of a time and had a mindset that was before my time. , if Lisa would've been doing WordPress and YouTube at that time I would be a millionaire by now. if you search the Forums you will find me asking the question to lisa, why she was not using CMS for website. or YouTube for marketing . I could see the benefits of both at that time but I didn't have the knowledge to execute. Consequently I have been kind of floundering finding my own thing. And just recently realized that they Lisa now using WordPress and YouTube. I Love The Way, Lisa teaches. And I am looking forward to participating in the community again.
Though I don't have a successful Internet marketing website of my own, I have still been able to make some money online helping others as a SMM marketing consultant and outsourcing. These things I feel I have "guru" status on. I am eagerTo share what I know and have learned over the year regarding these topic. I Have made a lot of mistakes and I have been documenting what has worked as what has not.
Here some topics I have experience:
- Facebook ad campaigns. I have personally done dozens for my self and others and is great way to make money without website
- some twitter marketing
- Linked in Groups Marketing/Networking
- local business online Branding and SMM
- Outsourcing Guru, Made a ton of mistakes and know what works.
- Along those lines: Odesk Hiring expert
- Wordpress basic
- Genesis theme editing basics
- There is a cool tool for creating Custom Genesis themes I can share info on.
- Springpad for Managing your life, projects and research
- Mindmapping for Planning websites, writing a book, creating organizing content, even assigning task, and more
- Vbulletin Forum expert: I Had a forum community website for United states Air force Academy for years that recently got hacked and going to have to rebuild. I will be integrating wordpress into it this time. .
- Multisites and how to make money with a multisite network and multisite marketing. This is one project I am working on now but know a lot and could write a book on the subject or offer a degree program. LOL I have spent a whole lot of time trying to wrap my brain around this, as it is what I need for many of my personal projects.
I feel my biggest struggle building my own online niches and presence is the feeling of being completely alone in it all and the feeling of being overwhelmed. I have tried for years to find a mentor and/or a partner. but have not found the right fit. Now I'm thinking trying to maybe find several different partners for each individual project who may have the same interest in these projects. I just know for myself I would feel so much better if i had somebody that had my back, And we can share the load.
I will be posting my ideas and I'm working on now and see if there is anyone that would want to join forces on one or a couple of interest.
The Prodigal child is back! Glad to be here to learn from the best and contribute where I can!
Welcome! I cant pretend to be an expert. Just someone who has been dipping into this field for a time without actually making any money! My biggest problem is losing focus and going off on all kinds of different tangents, thereby being Jane of all trades and master of none. as you are an outsourcing guru, maybe consider putting up Youtubes on that, as I have been devouring Tyrone Shum's videos and will happily watch yours if/when you put them up. I feel that going into to this area for the umpteenth time, if i want to keep focus i am going to need a Virtual Assistant to keep me on track, by reminding me of what my goals are. Can i get that online?
I certainly remember your username! I think back to that too. If WordPress had only made that big change they made in 2010 when you could now easily make the site act like a traditional website I would have been sold but you may remember I HATED the forced blogging layout (still do for some sites) but man you are right. I didn't see it early on.
I would love to know what you think about FB advertising now with all the changes. Are you still seeing results? What's your ROI like?
About my user name: I don't think at the time I created it I realized how it could be misread. I remember I created it for the letters for a website name I was going to create for listing vacation rentals. I don't remember what the E and the L stand for but the VR is obvious. I should hold a contest and reward the person who figures out the other two letters for me LOL
BTW I do still have a vacation rental here in Park City that I now live in, but just starting to rent out rooms. Anyone interested, please message me.
My goal is to twist your arm Lisa into letting me organize a paid bootcamp /working vacation for very small group of people to attend here in beautiful Park City and in my home and you could cover topics of Affiliate Marketing, youtube Marketing etcs. Attendees/Guest would also have plenty of time to take advantage of all fun winter or summer activites Park City has to offer. It will be a great opportunity for you to give the struggling hands on practical advice. I can open my home and get access to one or two other Vacation rentals near by to make this happen. Maybe have one other guru I am fond of be a part of it.
Just an idea that I would love to see happen. What do think Lisa? You like it?
As for as FB Paid post boast, let me wait to reply in detail. It certainly has affected the # of views and thus the # of call to actions. But there are some work arounds that I can share. I will write in more detail soon. in a post. I do have to say that for me at least, Facebook is by far the most effective form of targeting advertising with the best ROI if you know how to work it. Anyone with a local business especially should definitely be taking advantage of FB along with Yelp advertising with coupons. Extremely easy to target if you have a local business or a very unique online niche business.

Hi Sonya, I thought i had hit reply to a post I created but i do not see it. wondering if it got deleted? Not sure why it would. Anyway I m not going to write it all again, but I want to thank for your ideas and is along the lines of my future plans for outsourcing network of sites I am planning. Stay tuned .

I would be interested to hear our views on local biz FB marketing. I know a lot of the inexperienced small businesses in my locale are treating FB ads like some kind of casino slot machine. The careless abandon and lack of optimization is seriously inflating their spends on top of the fact they are not going to reach half the people that have Liked their page anyway.

I'm going to investigate the FB ads in a video or something and give them that - I def do not have time to personally advise people on this, and many of the clients do not even know their is a problem with FB ads. I have a client who is spending a hell of a lot of money getting thousands of Likes but many of those Likes will never convert even if they DO see her updates.
For Fb ads I have a very specific strategy since I run various local business directories. these directories generate thousands of sales regularly and usiing FB ads to attract new customers to the sites is "pinging" them, getting the attention of each user and teaching them to defer to my business directories. The FB pages I've set up for the directories are effective funnels and the web traffic is doing great - half of all the monthly visitors are returning visitors. If done right and engagement is good FB can work well for simply turning people onto something they can use regularly. I've taken the problem solving angle with my niche and it's working great. What concerns me is that most small businesses are not thinking long term. They are just chucking cash in the Facebook machine as though it's a wishing well. What are you thoughts on this?
evrl, I appreciate you thinking of me. Something to think about, but I'd rather discuss something like this via email and not here on the forum. Thanks!
Darren, you are really killin it with FB ads. That's great! As far as people throwing money into the machine I can imagine. Think of all the people who assume that fans equals instant money and aren't aware of the algorithm changes. FB is cleaning up on people throwing money into their system and not getting any return.
Hey dude, nice to meet you
