How do I make a website out of a blog?

Hi,

I have an idea for a site that I know would do good as a html website, but I prefer to use wordpress to make the site for it's simplicity.

What tips can people offer to help make wordpress function more like a website?

It is essentially quite easy. More than half of the sites online now use WordPress.

All you really have to do is to choose in your dashboard "pages" rather than "posts."
Then choose "New Page." Don't neglect, then, to make sure you have navigation from your opening page.

I know that there are various different templates you can get for Wordpress in order to make it function better too.

James is right. All you do is create a custom Menu and make the menu link to static pages instead of post categories and boom, your site is more static.
