    Default Affiliate program Amazon

    Hi there,

I'm going to join Amazon's aff. program, but I'm just wondering: if I choose the standard plan, I can only promote those products listed under the standard plan?
And if I choose the classic plan, I get to promote books etc?

It seems logic, but since they only explain that the advertising fee rates are different, I wanted to check.

    Thank you

edit: I just saw that I can't get paid by direct deposit because I live outside the US. How *** is that? It seems to me much easier to deposit my money than to send a cheque.

edit: and i you can promote all products in both plans, than why would I choose the classic plan as 4% is the lowest rate you can get?

I don't think that Amazon affiliate commission rates are different. You start with 4%, and it only increases as you start to sell better that the beginner. Then it jumps to 6%

Amazon is very good. However, you have to promo the high ticket items if you plan on making a fair amount of income from them. But, of course, if you have 1000s of visitors then low ticket items might work.

Anakha amazon is going to be a challenge for you, I was going to join them but I realize their rates are extremely low, I had sold a book that cost $14.00 and gues how much I got paid I got paid $0.52 cents its good that they have physical products but they pay extremely low

I now use them for products that do not have an affiliate program of their own. Haven't earned anything through them yet, but I think that's also because my traffic is still quite low. Anyways, no harm in putting them there, right?

yep thats true it doesnt hurt try and put them there, the best thing you could do is create niche websites for the amazon products that you want to promote, that way you will always have traffic flowing to your products, and you will get some sales

I could do that if making money was my priority for blogging, but it isn't:-)

As in most cases, there are lots of factors to take into consideration. When you promote an Amazon book and get 52 cents when you could be selling a clickbank book and earn $20 it is a great loss.

On the other hand, if I am going to discuss Paintshop Pro training resources and there is only one good book (true) which you can make a few cents from on Amazon but nothing elsewhere, Amazon is the best affiliate choice out there.

Also, by selling through Amazon you will get a lot more people to buy many products because they know they can trust Amazon where they already have an account and they know the price will be right.

Good question! Not many Amazon Associates have been able to figure that one out...lol! The Standard plan is indeed the better plan and allows you to earn more with progressive sales.

If you get visitors you get to sell the products that you're promoting. Focus on getting traffic and you shall get sales too.

I think that it must be a little more than "an extra" or else you would not have started a thread on it .

For those who come across this thread, selling Amazon products can be highly lucrative if you do it the right way. The trick is to look for buyer keywords like "xyzproduct review" or "best xyzproduct" and so on and use them in product reviews on your site. Make sites with a mix of useful articles linking them to product reviews, all of which must be bestsellers(good ratings and many positive customer reviews).

Make sure you do good keyword research - it is the foundation of a site that attracts a large number of visitors. Never build a site without doing keyword research - if you don't do keyword research, it's like writing a book that no one will ever read.

Provide visitors a reason to click through to Amazon. Once they're there Amazon does a wonderful job of making them swipe their credit cards . If they click through from your link, and buy anything from Amazon within 24 hours, you will get commission for it.

I have had many instances of people who clicked through my link for a low priced product but ended up buying products worth hundreds of dollars. (It can happen the other way round too )

Just to pique your interest, here is an article in which Claire Smith discusses her Amazon earnings in December 2012 - a whopping $18,361.63!!. All earned by a simple lady living in the countryside.

In my opinion and so far for me Amazon is a great way to promote products that do not have affiliate programs. While it is true that their commission rates are lower, if they are the only place that carries a product I want to promote. Then it is better to promote that product through amazon than not to promote it at all or to promote it without getting anything back for my efforts.

If you make sure what you are promoting is targeted to what you are talking about in your posts and your website then you will get a higher click through rate and from a lot of what I have read this can add up fast. In our blog we have just begun last month to promote products through amazon and have already made a little bit.

The cool thing about amazon is that a lot of the times when someone buys a product you recommend they also end up buying other stuff that they were already going to purchase or that they just decide to purchase. A lot of our sales have had nothing to do with the niche of our website and are just stuff they decided to buy within 24 hours of clicking our link.

So far for the month and a half or so we have been using amazon, we have gotten up to the %6 rate pretty quickly. I have read a lot of success stories with amazon like the one linked in the post above me and that has encouraged me to work with it more as well. Anyhow, good luck with your blog and your amazon affiliate experience if you choose that route!

This is a great piece of advice regarding the amazon affiliate program. You have covered the man benefits of the program in a neat little post. Amazon associates can be quite harsh if you dont have the traffic or the correct market so focusing on these key issues is essential. Amazon gets ripped on a bit because of 24 hour cookies although as you said they could buy a few things on amazon. I have referred a person to amazon to buy an ipad decal and in the process they also bought three books which was a nice bonus.

I use the Amazon Affiliate site for one core purpose, to expand my site a lot faster.
