Having a website as PR0 is still good! I'm more of websites that have a PR of N/A cause that raises a red flag for me.

Default Directories no longer of any real value.

Reading this thread surprises me a bit. Sonia finally made the most significant point. Do not waste your time on directories is probably the best advice.

It is my understanding that directories used to be useful but now are essentially considered little better than spam because there are so many of them that just take everyone who asks without regard for the quality of the site. The problem is that so much of what we read about web work is dated like this so we still read a lot of recommendations for them.

It is hard to keep up when even many of the big names online put out old material, especially in their free ebooks on the basics that many of us like to get. I always watch out for the date on any articles I read and recommend the practice to all.

There are one or two directories that seem to have some value but they are extremely hard to get into or very expensive, or both. Getting your link into a lot of them may get you downgraded by the likes of Google. [This is suggested by many experts now but I have seen nothing personally in Google materials to be sure.] The conclusion is that some directory listings may have some value but pursuing them generally is not practical or useful for most of us.

Its not total wastage when you are submitting a site in 0 pr directory. As its ranks might increase after some time. But dont follow such websites in bulk. If you have submitted your website in high pr directories also then you will get traffic to your site.

You should take heed when it comes to choosing a directory website to submit your site. You should choose those ones that are highly moderated. One way to check it is to see those listed websites on the site. Take a closer look to their description, title, and relevancy.

If they look good, then it's a good sign. Another is choose directory websites that allows only local submission in your country. This is especially applies for local websites. That way, you can make a good directory submission campaign.

Though the links from those websites are devalued, you can still get some traffic from them.

From my understanding it is better to put your articles in higher PR article directories. Remember the higher PR backlinks you can get the better it looks to goolge because the site is more trustworthy.
