what i do - do not start posting links to your site immediately - do it gradually. But if you have the answer in your site then do so , only if it adds value. Off to post more answers. And btw Google seems to rank yahoo answers highly for long tail kws

I use Yahoo Answers for traffic all the time, but I didn't know about going back for the 'comment' part on already answered questions. Great tutorial! I love getting e-mails saying that my answer was chosen as the best answer, and then going into my statistics and seeing incoming traffic from the questions I answered.

Yahoo! Answers is STILL repeatedly in the Top 5 of all the searches I do. Tho I'm not 100% sure whether they are recommended anymore or not. Pre-penguin, I'd say yes. But in 2013? I'm not so sure. But moderation is probably ok.

can anyone chime in on recommendation post-Penguin?

You will be surprised how many people ask something about nail polish. How to remove nail polish from clothes, how to keep it longer on nails and many other things. I typed a word "polish" meaning "Polish language" and I got questions about nail polish

By the way, I like it! Though I can't promote mine... Unless some one asks for nail polish tips XD
As another user has said, you'd be surprised. Remember you can always go to Yahoo Answers and type "nail polish" or similar in the search bar. I guarantee there are questions you'll find on it.

Hey guys, just an update. On one of my websites, I received over 800 referrals from Yahoo Answers yesterday. It's always worth a shot! This just shows the potential.. hopefully the numbers will be even higher today.

Always Go Back And Vote For Your Answer As The Best Answer
Noooo, why did you spill the beans? That's my strategy!
Anyway, here's another technique that I use to increase yahoo answers points. This one is a foolproof method and the best part is it is legit . Just answer those questions that have very few answers, especially the ones with no answers at all. Go to the questions that were asked a few hours ago and left un-answered. Answer the question even if you have a little idea. If the asker doesn't select your question as 'no best answer' then you are getting a sure 10 points after some days because your question will be the only one to vote for. By following this method, you can earn 50 points by 5 answers. Isn't that awesome?

One thing I would like to share about yahoo answer. Never under estimate it's power! Once I was looking for something in different search engines. I couldn't find. So I asked that in yahoo answers but continued with the searching. After some time, to my surprise, the question I asked a while ago, was on the top of the page of search results in Google!

Now I'm assuming you are not dropping links in your answers correct? Are people visiting your site from your profile? From what I recall they don't allow you to add links to your posts.

Yes you can drop the links in your answers. It's just that new accounts do not have active hyperlinks. You need to reach a certain stage before you get active links.

It is best to answer as many questions as possible WITHOUT leaving links. I have done this in the past to build up my "best answer" score and it helps somewhat with the authority your profile achieves in the community.

OK good to know. I haven't used them in YEARS but I got a decent amount of traffic from my actual profile at the time.

Not every question, but when relevant I usually put a link to a specific article relating to the question in the "Sources" section. You're allowed to add links to your post, but they're not clickable until you reach Level 2.
