Unless you have at least at least $500 - $1000 to play around with, I wouldn't even fool with PPC. It's a learning curve an you need some cushion to really get it going. You don't want to keep having to stop campaigns abruptly because you can't scrape up more cash. PPC is nothing to play around with, but yes it can bring you instant traffic, but just remember when the money runs out the traffic will too, so get your cash in order before you decide to play this game. Be prepared to lose and shake it off before you really get the hang of it. And by all means don't use your bill money lol...

    3. Simplicity - The interfaces on the PPC management pages has gotten numbingly easy to use. Pick a keyword, a bid price and an ad. Done.
    4. 24/7 advertising – Have an online store that runs itself? Then PPC is definitely for you. Your store is open 24/7, so should your ads. Even if you’re brick & mortar, your customers search all hours of the day and night – not just during business hours.
    5. Immediate Results – Setup campaign, turn it on. Done. You’re advertising, and can have clicks right now, with sales shortly after that. it doesn’t get any better than “instant on”.
    6. Precision Targeting – By choosing keywords that match ads that match the final landing pages means that you can precisely match what a visitor is searching for and target to precisely the page that has what they are searching for.
    7. Brand Awareness - Even without people clicking on your PPC ads, if they see your ad in the sideline, they are now aware of you. Some people will even setup ads designed not to be clicked on, but for brand awareness only. There are better ways then PPC for brand awareness though.
    8. Trackability - PPC ads can easily be tracked throught the PPC interface that the search engines give you. You can track what keywords are being searched, how many clicked on your ads, and even track if they bought a product from the click.

These are but a few of the reasons to use PPC advertising in your business.

Mostly people use PPC for getting the fast result to the site as in terms of getting the traffic. But as after getting the result once from ppc , one need to run the PPC again and has to pay again. So it is so costly for getting the result and small business can not afford it. And one thing more that when choose the PPC as the best method then be sure for the ad that is so attractive and which allow people click on ad and see inside the ad.

What about a service? I have a sprinkler service site and I have some Adwords credit so I'm testing it out.

Well that's still a product. There is still some money to be spent by the consumer. What the poster above was likely referring to was when a website had nothing to sell and no service to promote, paying for clicks thru Adwords to get traffic is probably a dumb idea.
