This is a great thread...I'm always looking to other people for insight and learning as I go! It's nice to hear from real people's experiences and get ideas of what is to be expected...it helps me not get too discouraged. I know I have a long road ahead of me but have good faith it will get there...eventually.

This reminds me that each must take the path that works for them.

I'm still going through the basics and entered this thread just to encourage myself to be patient.

My Site (through SiteSell) has been online over 24 months. My learning curve was (and is) steep. I have yet to make any money, but only first monetized 3 days ago. This is, to me, a difficult process. My traffic has now reached 2000+ per month. If you are looking for money and are fairly challenged in building a website, I would advise against SiteSell. It does offer a great first 2 weeks and Intro, but works for those who really have tons of time. My normal work requires 60-70 hours per week. When I did have time to get back to my Site, SiteSell was so full of updates and CHANGES that my "catch-up" time was very frustrating. Going by suggestions of not monetizing until 2-3000 visitors has also, I believe, cost me a bit. I have been turned down as an Affiliate by some companies I was counting on for my niche site--making me think I was late to the game. My plan is to switch to WordPress and re-do my site, hopefully with a better design. So far, I am at a $751.00 LOSS for my two years of work. My niche is relatively small and the content I have is pretty good; I basically have an information site for people wanting to go into business for themselves in the horse business. So far, it looks like I am the one doing the "learning" here, certainly not producing income. We will see.

My site is 3 months old and is not paying me yet, I may have to make an ebook detailing all of the mistakes I have made and sell that.... Some people seem to be able to generate income quickly and others are slower to make the cash register ring, depending on their selection of keywords, site concept and actual work on the site. It is difficult to estimate when all of the things will work the right way.

I have been working consistently on my website since July 2015. I have solid content, I have a blog, I also make youtube videos and I work really hard on my website, but I have not made any money. I have huge spikes in traffic when I could afford to advertise on Bing.com and put my blog on blogger networks, and this lets me know that people are interested in my content. I use affiliate links by well-known companies like Walmart and Carol's Daughter, but noone uses these links to buy anything. I also am an Amazon Affiliate and no money is coming in from the Amazon links on my website either. I feel worn out because I am putting a lot of time on my website, but I am not making any money. Could you please offer some well-needed advice on what needs to be done to make money off of my combination website/blog/vlog?

I started the forum in my signature on Feb 9th 2012. It will be online 4 years on Feb 9th 2016.

It took me almost those 4 years but now it's bringing in a nice steady income from adsense. Enough to live off of.

I have another forum that I started in 2014 and it's slowly earning some income.

Would you please give me more details on what worked for you and what did not work for you in trying to bring in money from your website? Also, do you use text links for adsense or do you use an affiliate banner and post it to your website?

Well, my story's kind of boring, I started on blogger, got used to HTML, found 000webhost, and got used to wordpress, moved over to wordpress, and have been tinkering around ever since. I'm not a full time blogger/webmaster, but I do use what I've learned about wordpress (started when I was 15) in my job, or entrepreneural ongoings. But Ive noticed over these last 2 years inparticurlar, ive gotten rather decent at it, have a solid understanding and plan about how to grow the sites, and combine both online & offline advertising, and use marketing to determine how the site & adds should look, to control the perspective of the user.

But I don;t want to get too deep into it. SO.... 7 years, and still learning.
