Default oh dear what have I done!

I decided to convert my site to a wordpress CMS/Blog, consequently all the URLs changed. I setup 301 redirects for all of them and gave google a new sitemap, but my rankings seem to have disapeared. I am hoping it is temporary. Looking at my server logs googlebot is spidering 50% of the new urls and 50% of the old URLs and being told to 301! Has any one else had experience with this?

Yikes, I hope your site stats recover soon. I made a similar change to my site when it was about a month old. I had to fix a lot of links, but my site wasn't old enough for it to have too much of an impact. It didn't take long for google to find all my pages again.

My fingers are crossed for you.

I've heard of this happening before and it's probably only temporary. I bet your rankings will return soon. Hang in there.

As Lisa said just hang in. Google have spotted the change so now its down to them to figure out the new structure and rank it accordingly.

If anything keep note of how it goes. Its a great learning experience that will come in handy for the future.

I forgot to mention. Make sure to double check for broken links or unavailable pages. Use a tool like Link Sleuth (free download) to help you out.

I just downloaded that tool Gavin, there were a couple of issues that I have now sorted out. Cheers!

PeterM,

On a positive note, your new layout looks mucho sexy, in my opinion! Good job! I hope Google catches up soon, and you get your traffic back. I am sure you will. There is no reason why they wouldn't. Let us know.

Nice look PeterM. Great job!

When I view the site in IE6, the content section is pushed down below the left and right nav bars. Has anyone else tried with IE6 to see if they get the same result?
