Default Which Directory/RSS Submission Services are good

I'm looking to submit to RSS and Web Directories but I don't have the time to seek out good one and then go thru the process. I've got a short list of a few I can do myself but I'm looking to maximize back links to.

I don't mind paying for it if I know it'll get done. I've seen to good to be true prices, $50 for 500 web directories, To $50 for 50 directories--with guarantees for high Page Ranked Dirs. There're some silly prices too $40 for 3 "deep links" on a SINGLE directory...I looked at it and their PR was 2

Anyone ever use a service?

Which have you used with success?

THX

It is too good to be true and those links will end up more than useless unless its a quality link. You are best removing PageRank from your decision making, buying links for PR is risky business with Google.

I don't buy links, don't think I ever did. Once a month I'll submit my sites to a handful of free directories in hope in catching a worth while link. Keep your content fresh and the Search Engines will keep coming back.

Finding bloggers in your niche can also help in getting more exposure.

I agree with Gavin. The days of boosting your PR through paid links is over. Google can now sniff out paid listings and I read an article that they are no longer taking the directories into consideration when considering your PR.

The main traffic building techniques I've used lately have all been free and they include, continuously updating content, adding my own YouTube videos, interlinking articles between my blog and site, and posting in related forums.

I agree and do most of that. I was thinking that submission to directories and RSS couldn't hurt and was looking for a painless (if there is such a thing) way of getting it done.

Actually, the blog/site has been up for 3 weeks and I've gotten over 1,000 visitors total and average about 20-30 a day just doing the stuff above and bookmarking a few posts so I'm with on this one.

Yea. The base domain/keywords are general and have have a lot of competition. The combination of standard SEO WITH backlinks gets you higher on Google's search results. I'm building my own in the way Lisa suggests but wanted to see if I could put my site in directories as a quick way for some more.

I'm getting search engine traffic from long tail phrases and wind up on the first and second pages with those so I got excited and wanted some more

The last thing I'm going to do is buy high PR links. It artificially inflates the site and once you can't pay for them you loose. Besides PR is just a measure of popularity via backlinks plus whatever Google doesn't tell you. So if a "popular" site thinks your worth linking to then your site must be worthy of a higher rank and should be seen when people search.

It really does work. The problem is people abuse it inflate their site unnaturally. Google's knows about and I'm sure they'll do something about it sooner or later. Links from sites in your niche are safe--hight PR or not.

I'll probably do it my self...a few a day like I do when i read and comment on blogs etc

Oh yea the other dirty secret of PR is the data is about 3-6 months old. Google recently updated PR and a lot of sites lost when they cleaned house. They probably won't do it again for 3-6 months.

Ahhh...that explains a lot with some of sites. Didn't know that so thanks for sharing.

I haven't done much with the RSS directory submissions so wish I could be of more help.
