Default links and PR

hi guys,

Does anyone know if it matters the PR of the specific page that is linking to you? I have started writing for a blog related to my niche and in exchange I can link to my site. The new pages I create have a PR of 0 and these are the ones that contain my link. Will this still help with google?

Thanks!
Pete

As you continue to build traffic to that blog then it will have more of an impact as an inbound link to your site. But starting out, it won't make much difference. PR has really been devalued over the years it still has some merit. The main thing you want to focus on is promoting that blog so it becomes a more valuable inbound link.

I think PR still matters at some level. Probably not as much it did a year ago. For me the important thing is to get inbound links from high ranking sites in your niche. Doesn't matter if there PR is 4 or 5 or even 8. Also, getting as many inbound links as possible seems to have a better effect on your rankings than getting few good back links.

But when you combine both strategies, you will see faster increase in your rankings.

I htink people have abused PR too the point where it just doesn't carry as much wait anymore. It is always like that. A new system is developed, and then others find ways to exploit it to the point where it becomes useless.

I think the age of a respectable Web site seems to count for a whole lot more these days. The older the better.
