Question The importance of keywords

Ok! I am just about to launch my completed website, but first I would like to find out how many keywords are too many keywords in my title and meta tags. How do you select the best keywords for higher ranking… Thanks so much for your response!

Keywords are becoming less and less important. At best, some believe they are used by AdSense (and other ad serving programs) to help determine ad relevancy but even that hasn't been proven. You should definitely use them but I wouldn't put too much time into them.

I generally use 2-3 keyword phrases separated by commas and I try to make sure they match the content of my page as much as I can. No sense in loading up your meta tags with hundreds of keywords or stressing over which are best. Just pick a few and make sure they're relevant.

Along the same line, though, the "<meta name="description" content=..." is worth working on carefully since it appears in the google search results. People will read those to see which link to follow. It is important to describe your site in a way that will draw people in.

Good point James. It may not as much of an effect on where you rank but it definitely helps sell your site once you appear in the engines.

Yes I have to re-visit some of my descriptions because Google is flagging some as too short.

Keywords in title tag is more important than keyword meta tag.

Just write a description of core service or content less than 60 characters long. Preferably with some of your main keyword in.

I don't get it. Why would they do that?
