hi guys,

I have a question, just something i am curious about. Whenever I make a post on my wordpress blog, it usually appears on google within a few minutes, if it's a very low demand keyword it some times ranks in top 20 or so. It gets spidered by google almost immediately. How does google know to spider my new page right away?

Google loves blogs so it wouldn't be surprising if their bot visits regularly. Your blog is also sending out pings to notify other sites that something has been added, I'd suspect Google have picked up on the ping.

Wordpress automatically pings engines and other services. Also, WP.com blogs tags automatically get indexed as technorati tags and wordpress tags. So you have direct and indirect spidering of your blog. If you have google site map plugin installed every time you post google gets pinged.

ah cool, that explains it. Yes I do have the sitemap plugin installed. That's cool :-)

I can write a page, wait a few minutes, then see where it ranks on google.. cool!

Yes, I think the WP sitemap plugin has got to be one of the most useful plugins.
