Ok. So here comes my first forum question post.

Let me tell what I have done so far.

My site will be a common Business Directory for a particular city.

How will it be different? Every business that adds a list will be required to include a really good offer/discount which we will call a "coupon".

This "coupons" will be the main course of the site and I will have them rated by the users, based on rating "coupons" will have higher standing on the directory and this should cause the businesses to make better offers/coupons so that they can rank higher and get more business.

Not exactly new, but it is not being done in my city and by giving it some personality and making it fun then I think it separates it from just been another directory.

With that said this is what I have done so far.

1. Registered domain using the actual city name plus coupons. I will use ABC in substitution to the actual city name because I am new here and do not want to be looked at like I am only pushing my domain.

So now I have abcCOUPONS dot com

2. I registered 2 other spellings of the city with the word coupon that will be redirected to one main domain. Only the main domain will be promoted, the other two are for spelling purposes based on possible word of mouth promotions, phone etc...

How should I redirect this extra 2 domains so it does not look like domain spamming?

3. I have added in the .htaccess file the code to make sure only the www version works.

4. I have registered a twitter, myspace and facebook account using the domain type name as my username (url).

That is it so far.... How am I doing? Is it ok? Your tips are welcomed.


Then as I develop the actual site I have keyword question.

Because I am a city specific website, do I always use the city name when using keywords?

Example would be do I just use things like,

coupons , deals, offers or should it be abc coupons, abc deals, abc offers ?

I am concerned that using the city name so much will kill it as a keyword although the city name will be my #1 targeted keyword.

So what are your thoughts in keywords when it comes to a city specific site.
