Yes google gives more weightage to Dmoz and yahoo directory. There is no any benefit submit in spam directories.

When it comes to DMOZ you can say i am not as lucky as others. tried to submit lots of times but it never got approved. Tried various ways but still my bad luck.

So what i think is more than directory submissions, i would prefer blog commenting for rising up in search engines. It is improving my relations with other bloggers and it helps in generating better backlinks.

Well do u have any idea how much time it takes to get listed in DMOZ...i had submitted few of ma business websites last month but still waiting for them to be listed.....do u know how much time it will take...!!

I personally don't think it will hurt your website submitting to a bunch of directories. I'm not experiencing much traffic from directories. I would only submit to the top 10 article directories according to alexas traffic rank. And yes i agree yahoo and dmoz are by far the best directories online!

Agree, it doesn't hurt. I think the point Matt was making in the video is that it doesn't help much either (unless it is a valued directory).

Dmoz is extremely difficult to get through. But is it really worth it?

Great points Lisa, i agree totally a lot of these little directories don't carry a lot of weight at all! Just good for backlinks, not very good at delivering traffic either except the bigger ones. Like you mentioned yahoo and dmoz. Great post and good video thanks!
