    Default Disavow Websitebabble?

I recently submitted a reconsideration request to Google after I made my disavow list. I got a letter back saying I still had some unnatural links, and the examples they gave me were from this site, websitebabble.

should I remove the link to my site in my sig in an effort to lift my manual penalty from Google?

***now I have removed my link in my sig to my site, but has anyone else experienced this? Thoughts?

I don't think I've ever gotten anything from Google about unnatural links.

well it does make sense since this message board is completely unrelated to my niche. I had previously gotten rid of all the other sig links from other message boards I belonged to, though I thought this one might be different. I guess not.

    Weird.

I post on a variety of forums and blogs, some related and some unrelated, and I've never gotten anything from Google about it.

Are you sure it was this site they mentioned?

    of course.

anyways, I've removed the link in my sig, so hopefully the links in GWT start to go down until zero. Gonna file another reconsideration in a week or two, just like they suggested.

besides, if anyone is really interested, they can just click thru my social media links to get to my site. Removing a manual penalty trumps 1000% any small trickle of traffic I get from this site, which is like 1 click a month, lol.

gotta do what I gotta do!

I believe it. Others have said the same thing. Google just doesn't like to see a massive amount of links with the same anchor text and you don't get the same SEO benefit from forum links anyway.

That's odd. I just learned something new. I thought Google just simply would not count links from a forum... I didn't know they would penalize you for having too many posts. That's scary. I for one think that if links don't help you, then they shouldn't harm you as well. What if someone just likes posting here and doesn't really care about the technical or "so-called" seo benefits?

Yea it makes sense. I've noticed others on here don't have their website as a link. Lesson learned.

Google works off of an algorithm. If they notice something it's not just based on one activity. It's more than likely based on the habit of someone. I would suggest for someone concerned about their promotion tactics or habits to put no follows in their links rather than not link at all. Just my two cents. I don't think most people will be affected by this.

Got Matts tweet today Google's new effort to reduce spam on my twitter. I saw this video and thought it might help you out a bit. I think you may have been targeted based on a variety of activities that you may have not even been aware of. But on a typical scale, this appears to be a relatively small issue. You probably got the message because they didn't want to penalize your site, so it's good that they sent you the message. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y74Op_k6UY

It really is a shame too because it's a nice bonus for people who have sites related to this forum. It's a shame that Google has everyone running scared with regards to links.

I don't think if the site was related to being a webmaster it would matter that much in terms of a manual penalty. But "quit smoking" is obviously and totally unrelated, so I can understand why I needed to get rid of my site link. Yea it is a shame. But at the same time, I don't feel I should get rid of my site link on message boards about quitting smoking.
