How as a newbie got to be in the first position on Google
Hello guys!
I am new on this community and I hope I can help with my story since I started on this interesting Affiliate Marketing world last year in September. I am native in spanish so I am sorry if I make some mistakes writing.
When I started last year in September I bought a domain to start building a website along with my dreams as all of us do. With the time, I came to realize the domain name I bought was not the right one as it was too abroad. So after reading lots of advices I focused my domain on a specific niche... very specific.
Then I started building content on it. I made reviews for products on the niche and also wrote content on directories as Ezine. I joined a group on facebook for reciprocal links that unfortunately does not exist anymore (that group) they are still on G+ but somehow is now the same to me, they don't seem to click on links like they used to.
Back to my story, I kept writing and writing different contents and not just content for selling stuff (reviews) but also informative por readers, trying genuinously to help them (I am like that). I posted some of my articles on twitter, I must say I don't have very much followers, just 130 (nothing) but it seems that everything I did, it paid off on the end.
I don't know very much SEO than basics. I learned accidentaly some optimization tips buying a minicourse that cost me 5 dollars. It was a software that promised to make you earn a lot of money doing automatical Amazon reviews (it did not work) but it paid off on the end because in that mini course they talked in about 5 minutes how to optimize a website for flipping them ( I did not do that either).
I have made some comissions with my position on Google, it is not very much but I am very happy that all my effort paid off on the end. I mean, some people work so hard and never see any penny, that is very frustrating.
I still have lot of doubts about how to rank Nš1 new posts or page reviews on Google on their keywords if those keywords don't match with my domain website.
But I am willing to learn as much as I can and always trying to help people with information: this is all they need, good information. People need to make decisions, they work all day and they end up the day tired, they don't want to read a bunch of websites to get a conclusion and make decisions. And that is our advantadge. We can do that for them. It is what I did.
I must say my website doesn't have hardly any backlinks (I still don't know what that really means, I did clicked on that facebook community to a members's websites and they did the same to me, if that is backlink then I did it).
My website doesn't rank high on Alexa either. But I have been on the first position and I hope that will stay that way.
My conclusion as a person that is somehow new on this and still learning is that Google appreciate people who really wants to help other people and that's it. And some optimization as well on the website you are creating. That was my key in this case. I hope I will be able to repeat the same with my futures niches.
Thank you to everyone for give me the opportunity to share my story.
Lorette.

Welcome, Lorette. Really glad you joined us. Feel free to post specific questions about what you want to learn in the appropriate sub forums here. Google released a very good article on SEO last year. This may help.
