What don't you understand? Do you mean on page SEO or off page SEO?
There is too much for anyone to type out. This thread is recent and will give you a good idea about on-page SEO (one side of SEO)

Here are some off page SEO tips.
get backlinks to your site via blog commenting, article marketing, forum signatures, creating profile in high pr sites. And also submit your site to major directories, add to social bookmarking sites etc. SEO is a never ending work that you need to be doing for your site. Dont also forget to optimize your webpage content at the same time.

First thing we need to have is patience. SEO demands a lot of patience. Then try to create quality, unique content for your website. After this try to learn how to optimize the title tag for a web page. This is the very basics of SEO.

I agree that SEO does demand a lot of patience. If you're not prepared to spend time learning then it's unlikely that SEO will be right for you.

SEO can be quite confusing to start with, especially as people may have different opinions on the same subject. The best thing to do in my opinion is read as much as possible, ask questions in forums like this and set up a site to test your new ideas on. You will soon understand what works and what doesn't.

After a more than 10 year hiatius in web development, I am quickly finding out that SEO optimization is a moving target. Just when you tweak one thing, something else is affected. My problem is that my niche is so narrow, I am not being patient enough to see which methods are working and which are not. And that is coding 101, make a change, see the result, move on to other changes...
I know content is king, and I do have the patience to realize that it takes time for me to build that, but it is the behind the scene changes that I have difficulty being patient with.
I'm an instant gratification kinda gal, and I am quickly learning that not only is patience a virtue, it's an absolute necessity for any SEO sucess... sigh...

Let's now learn about On-Page Optimization! It is done within your site. It deals with the proper use of title tags, alt attributes, meta tags, description, keywords, heading tags and sitemap.
