Default How often should you re-submit site in webmaster tools?

Probably not an easy one to answer but how often should you re-submit your site in webmaster tools?

What are the factors that would influence how often you should do it?

Are there penalties for doing it too much?

If you are talking about Google's webmaster tools, you shouldn't have to re-submit your site. You can remove pages that may no longer exist, and with an updated sitemap, you can help Google find your pages.

According to Google: "When you update your site by adding or removing pages, tell Google about it by resubmitting your Sitemap. Google doesn't recommend creating a new Sitemap for every change."

I re-submit the sitemap every time I add in an extra 5-10 pages, but guess it depends on the size of your sites.

Why would you want to re-submit your site to webmaster tools? I have never resubmitted any of my sites in over 3 years. The sitemap is still getting indexed daily, keyword ranking is still being updated,,,,, so I see no reason to resubmit to anything.

once would be enough. but if you update your website like adding new or deleting subpages then you update your sitemap.

If you are adding new pages or making changes in the existing web pages then it's not necessary to resubmit your website sitemap everytime. In xml file you can make the changes in the last modified and the frequency you want googlebot to revisit your sitemap.
