Lisa. They are still $5 or $10 per click on Adwords, so I am moving on...

I have been working on my SBI site the last couple of days... it's going a lot slower than I planned, but I am definitely enjoying it, so it's all good.

I planned on running some advertising campaigns in the next couple of days... MSN, Yahoo, Kanoodle, and Ask are now on my list... Thanks for the info Mavedo!

Yeah I'm thinking of heading over to MSN myself to give it a try.

Before you sign up for Yahoo and MSN, look for special offers. I know that Yahoo is offering $50 with sign up and MSN is offering $25. That's what I did and it saved me a few bucks.

Default keywords de-activated

Two months ago I started a campaign on google Adwords. The first 4 days, I was learning how to set up my keywords so I got no impressions at all. During this time I was learning how to optimize my ad and keywords. Finally, I got the keywords and quality of the ad set up according to googles tutorials and sure enough that same day I got all the clicks I had budgeted and had a good CTR according to the tutorials. Google immediately de-activated the keywords that had worked so well and left a message that I had to improve the quality of my keywords or increase the bid to .50. Several days later, they de-activated all the keywords, some that had 0 impressions, with same message. If the CTR was good and the positions were good and I reached my budget why would I want to increase the bid? Google obviously is holding the keywords hostage to extort a higher bid from me. There is no other explanation for this behaviour. Anyone else have this problem?

Have you looked into the quality of your landing page?

I was at the Affiliate Summit last week in Vegas and PPC was a big topic of conversation. Here's what's happening. AdWords and even Yahoo Search are starting to apply some SEO tactics more and more to pay per click. What that means is if the keywords you are bidding on aren't as relevant to your landing page then they will make you pay a higher price per click because you're lacking in relevancy.

You can either tweak your landing page so it fits your keywords better, or as Google suggested you have to pay a higher price. They are trying to make the PPC results more relevant just like the natural/free results and it's causing a lot of PPC marketers to re-work their strategies. Relevancy is everything these days with Google and if you're not as relevant as they want you to be, they'll make you pay for it.

Yep! Yep!

Relevancy is very important nowadays, and it had quite a bit of effects on Google Adwords for quite some time now. A lot of internet marketers complained (I did too at first) until I found out what was going on In fact, I stopped using Google Adwords for quite some time, because they seemed to hate my website at the time.

Now, more than ever, it is very important to have very specific/targeted adgroups. Create different landing pages for different adgroups if you have to... this works out in your favor anyway.

If you don't mind, hoosier, I am just curious... was your landing page a separate entity or was it related to your website?

LOL...

I started this thread a while ago, when I was still complaining about Google Adwords minimum bid...

That's kind of funny I didn't realize it at first

I have been reading about more and more websites are getting Google slapped in the past week or so, i.e. minimum bid is $10.

I have had this problem before with an old domain I had. Right now, I am promoting landing pages on different domains with no problem (i.e. QS is great and min bid is 5 cents).

I emailed Google Adwords a while back to ask if my original domain has been blacklisted, or something like that, but they always give the generic recommendation of following quality score improvement guidelines.

Not really sure how to get around this, other than to get a new domain... which is not a good solution if this keeps happening.

Anyway, maybe we'll learn more in the next couple of weeks.

I am sorry about that; it's definitely frustrating.
