Greetings from an "Old" newbie
Stumbled across tjhis site by accident and hope to learn some things. I was happy using MS Frontpage for the run of the mill website work I was doing, but my host service stopped support due to security issues. I am now trying to figure out Dreamweaver while trying to learn how to code in php for the php bb. Arrrrgh! This is tough stuff for an old dog like me.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I wrangle a few different sites and one of them pretty much requires php bb, (I had a smaller lite version I could manage in frontpage and didn't have to learn php... now that's toast).

Every year you hang around is another year of learning; it's the "old dogs" who really know what's going on—at least some of us. (Of course I had a different view when I was 20!)

I'm 3 1/2 years older than dirt... (actually I'm 63, been online since it was ARPNET). Cut my teeth on a Commodore 64 and ran my first BBS on an Amiga 1000, (have I confused you youngsters yet?)

Only 63?
Why you are practically a youngster.
My best friend helped build the first commercial computer (in a bank, for Bank of America I think, three rooms of diode tubes, one you see pictures of in the history books) and built a home computer from a Heath kit before there were any commercially sold ones. Personally I skipped the Commodore and even Radio Shack TRS 80's even though I was tempted. I waited until IBM developed an 80 character wide screen, scrolling the screen back and forth to type one line was too much to endure.
But getting back to your php, you might want to check out killerphp.com for some good video tutorials. They are very clear, easy to follow tutorials that are very practically oriented. I am not too far into php yet (other areas calling) but I think these are really helpful (I'm tempted to say, "Especially for noobs and old guys!").

Thanks James for the lead on killerphp-dot-com, I'll check it out today.
Back in 1964 I was involved with the crew that installed the first computer at Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust in downtown Chicago, (that bank failed long before it became fashionable to do so). Computer room was about 50'X50', raised floor, climate, (temp and humidity controlled) and controlled with keypunch cards.
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

Welcome to the forum tortminder. Wow, I don't want to age myself here. I do have some memories of those laughable Trash 80s. All the best to you. I sure you have a wealth of knowledge. Enjoy yourself here.
