Question Utter noob wants to be pointed in right direction

Ok...So i have a domain name, and a host now. The host came with cpanelx which I have entered in info I know and understand, and have played with a few of the features. I want to learn how to make my free teplate I found, into my site. My site will include ecommerce, and news. Also software links. Ive read a few tutorials, but I need to know what Im doing here, Is it best to get a site builder...budget is in play, but Im realistic. Ive learned some BASIC html, but before I dedicate days to tutorials, I need to know how and what I need to do to achieve what I want. Some of my site will be on autopilot, but I want to be able to interact directly with content, update (possibly daily) and interact with users

Hi emogulusa, and welcome to Website Babble!

I am sorry, but I am not entirely sure what kind of info you would like.

If you have a template and basic HTML, I would not think you need a site builder... of course, it all depends on what you mean by "basic html" and whether you're comfortable creating pages off of the template files.

Would you please clarify a little on what kind of info you need, and I will be more than happy to help.

Hi emogulusa,

I always recommend getting a good software program like Dreamweaver, CoffeeCup or Homesite. I use Dreamweaver and it's a great program because it's easy enough for beginners, but robust enough for more advanced users when you do become more skilled with building your site.

That's great your host offers cpanel because you can build forums, chat rooms and other additions for your site but you still need a good web program to manage your pages, unless of course you want to learn how to program from scratch, which some people do.

What kind of people are you planning to target with your site? I understand what you want to have on your site, but how do you expect people to find you? Who is your market? I ask because that's important to identify before you just start building and putting links to all sorts of things. Especially with an interactive site like that.

Wink First of all

I respect those here who are validating my research, and offering assistance. Ive heard coffee cup is a better deal for beginners, and dreamweaver is a more advanced upgrade. How much approximatley is this software?

My site is gonna be titled eMogulz, and is targeting Small businesses, I will offer technology shopping (i.e. cellular, pdas, wireless plans) for optimization of ones organization

Another section will include a bulliten board for classified ads of my own, and those who want to sell or promote related things...

This is not all immediate, the ebooks, ads, and news is my main focus right now. Freeware links are also awesome.

I also will have news, ebooks, and freeware links. The rest I hope to monetize with some related ads, and affiliate marketing.

CoffeeCup is much more beginner friendly than Dreamweaver and more price friendly too at $50. Not to mention, you get free upgrades for life. So when they update their software to the next version you simply download it for free instead of paying for an upgrade like you do with Dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver costs about $400 new out the box.
