Default Hello all

Hello Lisa and all,

I'm really glad i found this forum.

A bit about me…

I’m new here and to internet marketing…I’ve been doing this for 3 months and haven’t made a dime. I’m not worried about it because traffic takes time to build and there’s a lot to learn. I’ve made enough mistakes in the last 3 months to have learned a whole lot! My next site will be much better. The first one was always meant to be a learning experience as I have a couple of sites in mind and wanted to do them right

I’ve got a full time and a part time job and started doing this because I don’t want to work for anyone else ever again.. I wanted to have residual incomes, I wanted to work less, and I wanted to do it by giving people right information. As you can imagine I was completely seduced by all the sales letters and net marketers out there and decided I could do what they do. After all I was on a start-up team of a now major publisher site, I know a bit about technology, I’ve worked enough jobs at a variety of levels to know how to manage it…or so I thought.

The idea of making thousands dollars by sending a few emails to your “list” seemed like heaven to me. It’s different in the real world. In the real world list building can be a nightmare...especially in the "net marketing" market. In the real word you can end up spending a lot of money on the “Guru” product which promise to make it a breeze…all for the low price of $47, $67, $97...not including all the up sells and cross sells they throw at you. In the real word you’re no different than a salesman. It’s not bad. It just IS.

It's not what I really wanted so I try again and this time it'll be more in line with the way i want to do it.

I bought into a program that included a bunch of tools a whole step by step guide, a community and some coaching for about $350 and was fired up about it. 3 moths and $900 later (mostly tools, and services) I have a ‘net marketing” site. You know the kind…Squeeze page, Sales Letter, Blog. I started the blog on July 24th and “Launched the site Aug 13th . The blog is on Google when I search on my keywords…second page for some first page for others and have gotten whopping 3 unique visitors! No sale tho'

I’m not complaining. It was money well spent…it got me here.

I’m really glad I found your sites. You’re walking the walk and your sites are great models learn from. I’ve been thinking about it differently and am glad I can see a few sites that actually deliver the kind of income, in the way I want to make it. I get to conversate with the person whose done it, knows what she is talking about and is STILL ACTIVELY TALKING TO US NEW GUYS.

Like I said, glad I found this forum and some of your sites. I’m NOT going to make many more “Net Marketing” sites. I’m just not into it and most of the stuff is crap anyway. I’ve got a bunch of affiliate links so I’ll promote the ones I use and find are useful.

You model suits my tastes better.

Here’s my stuff in case anyone’s interested…it still needs a lot of work…blog prabably need to be redone…Squeeze needs to be redesigned...I never really planned it…lesson learned!

Comments, good or bad, are always welcome

What a great compliment. Thanks so much, Mike!

"Seduced by the sales letters" LOL what a great way to put it because that's exactly what they do. There are probably 5,001 e-books and manuals out there with clever titles that basically tell you the same thing.

Like you, I also started out in Net marketing with my first site and quickly learned why that was a mistake. But as you said, I'm glad for the failures because it got me where I am today. You learn way more from the failures!

Also, don't forget to include your sites in your sig file instead of the body per the rules. You were just introducing yourself so no problem with this post. Just for future reference. You can edit your sig by going to "User CP" in the top left.

Default Completely understand

I'm a little late in joining the party here, my apologies, but I wanted to applaud your post, Mike. (Can I call you Mike as opposed to MikeD. Are we on a first name basis? )

There really are people out there that are dedicated to honesty and quality in their model, but it can be difficult to find. After coming across so many italicized, underlined, flashing, bright yellow "FREE..." signs and finding the catch at the bottom of a 5,000 word sales pitch, it's easy to get frustrated.

Your recognition of this model is right on. I'd like to plant the roots of my site into these qualities so that it can grow and be something that I'm proud of. I wish you the best of luck in doing the same.

Jackie
