WB Forum Signature Rules
I just re-configured the forum to not allow new members to add a sig file. This is to cut down on the people who join this forum just to link drop. I will not disclose how many posts you must have before you can add a signature just to keep people from post flooding until they have the required amount. I've noticed a lot of forums do this and I understand why now.
So if you are new to this forum and/or have a small number of posts and notice your sig has disappeared, that's why. You will gain this privilege back once you reach the required number of posts.
Also, if you see something quirky or notice you no longer have permission to do something you could before please let me know by replying here. I tried to double check everything but there are a lot of permissions on this forum so it's easy to overlook something.
Thanks for everyone's cooperation!

Good idea Lisa and one that I'm sure you thought hard about. It's not always easy to to put your foot down especially if it means possibly losing some traffic...but that kind of traffic you don't want polluting your site... Take care and all the best.

Yeah, well the decision became easier as the spam kept increasing. LOL I wish I could disable links in posts altogether until people have reached a certain post total but that's not an option with vBulletin. Cutting out the sig is not going to cut down on spam completely but it will help some.

I just reached 400 posts... yay! (Eddie pats himself on the back) However, the code for my signature image is not working. I don't know if it has anything to do with your changes or not. But just in case, I posted here.

Could well be, Eddie.
I noticed that some people with only a few posts have a sig and some with over 1000 have lost theirs, so it doesn't appear to be working as Lisa intended.

All fixed, alpha7. For some reason the forum didn't automatically bump you up the the right group so I had to manually do it. Should be working now.
Alan, there are only 3 people on this forum with 1,000 posts or more (I'm one of them) and the other two seem to have their sig files. Also I've checked profiles for people who are under the sig limit and so far none of them have sigs showing.

Oops - typo. I meant 100. :-)
Edit:
I think Faith was one of the ones I spotted, but maybe she removed that herself.
And one I spotted with 3 posts had a sig but I can't remember who that was now.

Alan, you were right. There was an error in the permissions. I tell ya. I'm learning more and more about this vbulletin software everyday! And I figured out why alpha7 was not automatically promoted to the group that allows him to add a banner. Hopefully it's fixed now. Whew! Again, if anyone sees anything wacky please let me know thanks.

I manage a few systems at work, and permissions is always a pain.

Yes they really are, TG. And every time I add new forum privileges that means a whole new set of user permissions and editing existing ones. Although I won't complain too much 'cause I love having these features that vbulletin provides. I'm now getting to see how powerful this software really is.

While we're on the topic, I have a question. My signature allows me only 2 lines... not even a third empty line. Is it supposed to be this mean to me?

I have been having fun with the sig to. Before I changed my image I also had links in my signature. When I changed my image, it stated that I had too many lines. I had to remove the links.
Lisa, how many lines are we allowed in the signature, and is it lines that are displayed or lines of code in the sig?

The sig line is set to 3 but the caveat in the Help menu does mention that vbulletin handles line breaks very inconsistently for the sig. I'll bump it up to 4 for those of you who have more than 400 posts so that will hopefully allow 3 lines. I just don't want much more than that because people were getting out of control with their siggies.

Try now and see if you can have 3 lines. Oh and to answer you question TG, I believe it's lines of code.
