It's really hard to answer questions like that because everyone's experience will vary. How fast you get traffic, your first click, etc. will greatly depend on how efficient your promotion is. Also "decent traffic" is relative.
Do you have an email list? If so, is it tied to your blog posts? AWeber has a blogcast feature so every time I publish a new post it goes out to my list to remind them I have a new post. That's a good way to keep people coming back to your blog AND you are building a list. One way to encourage people to sign up for your list is to give away a free ebook or some kind of relevant download.
Do you use social media at all to reach out to people in your niche?
Another thing a lot of new bloggers do is they create what I call a colab post or a group interview. They ask one or two questions and then send them out to popular/though leaders in their niche. Then when the post is done, they email them to everyone so they can share the post with their followers. That's a great way to get some new eyeballs on your blog.
Hang in there. This takes time but you can do it.
