What is a permalink?

I keep seeing that next to users names in this forum. I see the permalink up in the right hand corner. What is this? Does it mean something? I couldn't find anything in this forum on it.

It's a the "bookmarkable" link to a specific post. So if you wanted to link directly to a post on your website or blog, that's the link you'd use. It's a forum feature offered by vBulletin.
