Default I'm a Frustrated, Hormonal Teenager With a Site Addiction

Since late 2010, I have been trying to make money online, and I have yet to make anything substantial. Sure, I can make maybe $50 - 70 a month, but that wasn't exactly enough money to live off of. Since then I've tried numerous things, such as revenue sharing websites, surveys, PPC, HYIPs, and I even bought bogus products (I have spent almost $200 on products online!). I am 19 now, in college, no job, and money right now is as important as ever.

Despite my frustrations, I'm starting to realize that I have been aiming at making money online wrong. I have listened to Lisa Irby's videos several times, and even though I nodded "Yes yes" in understanding, I never seemed to fully grasp the importance of author authenticity. I always thought that if I had the information, I didn't need to have a youtube video, or a picture of my face, or even mention my name on my website.

Now that I'm almost 20 and living off of buckwheat noodles and top ramen, I want to change my frustrations into something lucrative. Instead of trying to engage myself in profitable niches that I have absolutely no knowledge about, I decided to choose something that I have been struggling with my whole life: weight loss.

In the past year-and-a-half, I have lost over 30 lbs and I am still losing. During this time I have tried NUMEROUS products, and because I had nothing but the allowance my parents gave me, weight loss was particularly tough. I couldn't rely on buying myself food because I didn't have enough money; I had to live off of what my whole family was buying, and they aren't exactly health fanatics.

And so I got to thinking - what about if I ran my own personal blog/website about teenagers and young adults who want to achieve weight loss? I search on Google and there were absolutely no websites with a theme around teenage weight loss (only articles about weight loss), so it was perfect for me! I had the experience, I had the drive, I had genuine knowledge, it was a topic I was excited about, AND it is an extremely relevant topic - childhood and teenage obesity is the highest it has ever been in the USA, and it shows no sign of decreasing anytime soon.

So now I'm here to walk the path towards money-making success (again). I feel that, deep in my gut, this is what I was meant to do all along.

Hello everyone, my name is Jay, and here's a virtual toast to real success

    Hey Jay,

    Welcome to WB,

Keep your head up, this is a good place to learn. you are still young and have an advantage that you still have a lot of time to figure this out. You will if you keep at it. If you keep listening to Lisa, you'll also realize that her success didn't come overnight and she had many failures along the way.

Embrace the failures! Because learning from the failures will help you get to where you want to go.

    Good luck.

Hi Jay, welcome to Website Babble
I can definitely relate to you with the frustrations of making money online. I'm 20 also, and have been building websites off and on since 2006. I decided in mid-2011 that I wanted to give it another shot, and went with rebuilding a site that I had back in 2006 - well here I am a year and a half later still at it. I didn't seek revenue for the site until the end of October, and the first thing I did was join Adsense in November. I'm in college also, in programming, so re-opening this site in 2011 was more of a way to play around with what I've been learning. After getting traffic and such positive reviews, I decided that I'd look into making it profitable. Since I "got serious" about my site around October/November, my traffic has more than tripled and I'm starting to earn a little with adsense, and I'm in some affiliate programs. My main thing right now though is building traffic -- Once the traffic is there, everything else will start falling into place.

I wish you a lot of luck with your site. Sounds like you have a great plan for it... Now just have to get it off the ground
