About personal answers for members from moderators or the admin.

Today I was again asked in a personal email from a new member to answer personally what was really a general question. My response was:

Your question is certainly one that is general enough to be posted on the forum. I try to answer questions there rather than personally when they are about issues others would be interested in. That is the purpose of having a forum. Thousands of people can learn instead of just a handful as would be the case if Lisa and our three moderators answered people individually instead.

Besides there are many qualified members to help answer questions and they often know more than I do on individual topics (I think the other moderators would answer the same). Please post your question on the forum and let us all help you with the answer you need.

I decided to post this response here for the benefit of others, but in addition, in this case the new member had blocked both personal messages as well as email! Perhaps he/she will find there answer here and not just assume I didn't care to answer.
