Default Noob Alert

Hi all, my name is Alex and I am a newbie that is very green to the website building world. I stumbled upon Lisa's 2createawebsite and was instantly intrigued on the idea of building my own website, and I am now diving in head-first and trying to learn as much as possible. I plan on getting an account on Site Build It! very soon and beginning my journey to a successful website. I have yet to decide a solid topic for a website, but I'm hoping to have a site dealing with Drifting in some sort of way.

I figure I'll share a little bit about myself to give you an idea of what I'm all about
I am a 20yo college student living in Ohio. One of my passions is the sport of Drifting, which is the art of sliding a RWD car around track courses. I have been drifting for two years now and I absolutely love it! I have built my car quite substantially, here is a pic of my ride!

I am sponsored by a shop in Dayton ohio called Forced Fab, as well as driver for team DYNOMITE!!! (note the hood of my car, I had it graffitied to say "DYNOMITE")

I hope to get to know all of you and gain as much knowledge from you veteran site builders as possible.

Thanks
-Alex

Welcome to the forum. From the looks of the car, I guess it's the rear wheels that take the punishment in drifting. Cool ride man!

Ask any questions and someone will answer.

Thanks for the welcome

^actually I don't spend too much on tires, I raid used tire piles at local tire shops and burn those lol

I have blown large amounts on modifications to the car though, it is an insanely expensive hobby..
I dig sharing pics, so here is an action shot of me before I painted the car and did some body work.

^a good example of some tire killing!

Default Welcome

Welcome Alex.

I've never heard of drifting.... how many cars drift at once? I would think one so they don't drift into one another. But a few drifting at the same time would be rather interesting. So what's your longest drift?

Drifting is an action sport where one performes a controlled slide around a road coarse; this can occur with one or as many vehicles desired. Drift competitons consist of two cars drifting together in "tandem" to see who performs better.

There are three aspects to judging; speed, angle (how sideways you are), and show factor (how well your overall performance looks and is taken in by the crowd). A big part of what makes drifting exciting to see is the tire smoke, for some reason seeing a good set of tires getting burned off catches anyone's attention lol.

It is a very exciting thing to see in person, I just had my parents come to a large event I was in and they loved it. My dad told me he could feel the excitment of the crowd when a driver was doing well. Drifting isn't judge on length or time, it is a sport of style and character...think of it as figure skating in a car

Judging from the lack of knowledge people have about my beloved sport, I think it may be a good idea to make my site about drifting. I love sharing the sport with people, and I have yet to find a person who dislikes it. I just need a good domain name and a SBI account!

Here is a video on drifting, this is the jist of it
