Hi and welcome,

The fees will vary depending on host, domain registrar and how much the software costs but you can get the best deal at www.godaddy.com for domains and web hosting. ($7-8/year for domain names and hosting starts at about $3/month) As far as web software I'm probably the wrong person to ask because I use FrontPage and it's being discontinued. I know a lot of folks use Dreamweaver but it's a bit pricey (at least $300... correct me folks if I'm wrong)

Hi jhfrench,

It depends on who you use but I can tell you that the average webmaster is going to be quite expensive. It's best to buy or download your own editor, find a free or reasonably priced template and do the site yourself.

As mentioned, the price of starting a business Web site is dependent on the companies you choose for your services.

Hosting services aren't too expensive and many include templates for starting a business. With this you should shop around. Search for several potential candidates and then search for reviews of each one for current and former users of that service.

As for a tool, I was never a fan of the WYSIWG applications. I like to write the HTML myself so I just use Windows notepad, which is free. For those with little experience I suggest that they do use an HTML editor tool. For this you may want to also search for HTML tools and then read reviews to see which one fits your needs the best. You may not need to by a $200 tool if the $30 one does everything you need.

Just my two cents.
